Announcements
· There will be more information about small groups coming in May. If you would like to still fill out a small group response sheet, please grab one from the table by the sanctuary.
· Annual Meeting Registration is out! The dates are June 16-19, and will be held in Des Moines. The speaker will be Leonard Dow, pastor of Oxford Circle Mennonite Church in Philadelphia. You can register on-line, or their will be paper registrations coming in the mail to our delegates. Never been there before? This is a good year to go! Even if you don’t like business meetings, there are plenty of other things to do. Annual Meeting is great chance to meet all sorts of Mennonites from around the Midwest, to make new friends and participate in powerful worship with a dynamic speaker, and to attend different seminars and workshops.
· In this last week of the Central Plains conference fiscal year, please remember that the first $12,500 in contributionswill be matched dollar for dollar. To count towards the match, contributions must be eitherfrom individuals or fromcongregations giving beyond their normal contribution. We need a total of $11,000 by Saturday, April 30, to end the year in the black. -- Stewardship Task Group
· We will have a special 4 week thematic Bible Study on the theme of “Covenant” on Wednesdays May 11, 18, 25 and June 1. We will be using a study provided by the Conference. There will be a video, Bible Study, and small group discussion. This should be a very good study, and get us thinking about what God’s covenant through Jesus means for us today!
Construction Volunteer Opportunity
Volunteers are needed to help with the construction of the new Everything Beautiful Thrift Store in Lame Deer, Montana. Construction began earlier this month when folks from South Dakota came and poured the basement. Starting this week, Lynn Miller of Ohio (former stewardship minister for MMA) will lay the first floor over the basement.
Lynn is asking for 3-4 volunteers per week until May 13. He writes, "I need 2 to 4 people who can carry wood and maybe swing a hammer....We will put up the girders, floor joists, and subflooring, and cover it with a waterproof membrane."
As for meals and lodging, Lynn says, "Breakfasts and lunches are made by the volunteers, but the evening meal is done for us by a great cook who will be here for the duration. There are beds for four more people (and a private room with a double bed for a couple) in a nice log house behind the White River Cheyenne Mennonite church. Bedding and towels are provided."
Questions? Call Lynnat the log housein the evening at406-592-3573 OR call Willis Busenitz during the day at406-592-3643. Those interested in volunteering may email Lynn and copy Willis at .
