Women’s Soccer: Cypress Downs Santa Ana, 3-0; Lady Dons To Face Irvine Valley
SANTA ANA, CA – Cypress College remained undefeated as the Chargers downed host Santa Ana College, 3-0, in Orange Empire Conference women’s soccer action, Friday. Tess Smith scored a goal and assisted on another as the Chargers (6-0, 3-0 OEC), ranked fifth in the nation, recorded their sixth shut out of the season. Heather Miller and Annica Perez each had one goal apiece for Cypress.
Santa Ana held the Chargers scoreless until Perez scored off a pass from Smith in the 33rd minute of the first half. Heather Miller and Tess Smith scored Cypress’ two second half goals in the 77th and 88th minute, respectively, to give the Chargers a 3-0 win.
Santa Ana’s Nancy Mejia (Mater Dei HS) recorded six saves for the Lady Dons, who fall to 1-3-1 overall and 0-3 in the league. Teresa Delgado (Savanna HS) and Maria Jimenez (Estancia HS) each had a shot on goal against the Chargers’ Danielle Carty who had two saves.
Cypress out shot Santa Ana, 16-2, in the win.
Next: SAC will travel to Irvine Valley College on Tuesday, September 21 to take on the Lasers in Orange Empire Conference action. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
