MARKET COMMENTARY
MOHAIR MARKET POSITIVE
On the fourth auction of the winter season, the sales of mohair were good. Good competition was received from all the buyers and prices ended positive. The Rand weakened by 1,6% against the American Dollar and is currently trading at
R13-69. The average market indicator closed R190-48 higher.
Prices of strong adult mohair increased by 3% to end on R189-22 and those of fine adult mohair improved by 4% to close on R195-69.
Young goat hair tracked the tendency of adult goats and prices closed 6% higher on R216-31.
It would appear that kid mohair has reached a turning point with prices closing 5% dearer. The average market indicator for kid mohair was R257-80.
The largest buyer on the day was Samil.
