Hours / 30 hours (including some evenings and weekend work)
Purpose of Post / To work within the Southampton Healthy Ambition team and to coordinate and deliver emotional health and wellbeing services alongside Public Health Nurses to children and young people, which includes assessment, referral and undertaking brief interventions either one to one or in groups through education settings.
Responsible to / Project manager, Service Manager and Head of Operations
Limits of Authority / To act within the policies and other regulations as laid down by No Limits Management Committee

Key duties:

Children and Young people

·  To deliver sessions to groups and individuals on range of healthy behaviours such as emotional health, self-esteem, Smoking cessation, healthy eating, wellbeing, health related school attendance issues, sexual health behaviours and relationships and other lifestyle related matters. Deliver interventions to meet the needs of the school or college population as identified by the qualified school nurse.

·  Provide quality up to date information, advice and support which supports children and young people’s emotional health, personal and social development and promotes healthy lifestyles in schools and colleges across Southampton City

·  To promote the involvement of young people in planning, delivery and evaluation of services.

·  Offer information and advice and support to young people in a variety of settings/environments as required to meet the aims of the service. Gain supervision and advice from qualified school nurses regarding caseload on a regular basis.

·  To represent the service at meetings and at school/ college and community events when required.

·  To work with the team, in developing services.

·  To keep up to date on issues that affect children’s and young people e.g. changes in government policy and local practice.

·  To provide a Universal Help Assessment to ensure the young person is able to access the help and support they need from a range of agencies to prevent their issues escalating into more complex problems and into higher tiers of need within agencies

·  To assist the Manager and Team Leader in the on-going training, support and supervision, of students and volunteers

·  To support all services delivered by the children and young people’s public health nursing service

Policy and procedures:

Finance / Administration:

·  To ensure quality of service and maintain records to the required project standards, maintain client files to a high standard and preserve confidentiality.

·  To contribute to the monitoring and development of the service by ensuring that service user’s records are completed and handed in on time, statistical data and financial information is maintained and quality assured.

·  To record hours and expenses accurately and submit in a timely manner.

General:

·  Assist the CEO to maintain and develop services

·  To liaise and network with relevant agencies / organisations, ensuring that the needs of service users are met and good practice and/or resources are shared, adding to the development of the service.

·  To attend training and meetings as required and attend and participate in regular supervision

·  To contribute to the knowledge of services held by The Children’s and Young People’s Information Service

·  Undertake other duties as required
