Without exception, late submissions will not be accepted.
- Applications will only be considered practice experiences taking place between January 2016 and December 2016.
- Students may apply forup to$3,000 for Bay Area practice experiences, and up to $4,000 for practice experiences outside of the Bay Area (elsewhere in the U.S. or international).
- To qualify for the fellowship, the practice experience must be at least240 hours over the course of at least 6 consecutive weeks, not including travel to and from site.
- Fellowshipapplications will be considered based on both the quality of the practice experience proposal and financial need.Funding may be less than the requested sum and will be based on the specifics of the individual application.
- If you are planning a practice experience that involves doing medical/clinical work, you will only be eligible for fellowship monies if you provide documentation from your organization certifying that you will only be permitted to perform those tasks for which you are officially qualified.
- The fellowship is contingent on students receiving a C- or better in GPP 105. Students who receive a fellowship and subsequently receive a D or F in the class, will be required to return their fellowship award.
- Notifications will be sent no later than the week of February 15, 2016 and disbursements will be processed by earlyApril.

Practice Experience Fellowship Proposal:
Write a short essay (650 – 800 words) addressing ALL of the topics listed below. A strong proposal will demonstrate engagement with the questions raised in the document“GPP Practice Experiences: Critical Questions, Challenges, and Opportunities”. You need not limit yourself to this document, but it is a good place to begin your reflection.
- Describe your personal and intellectual journey, explaining how the GPP minor and this particular practice experience fits into it.
- Describe the work you will be doing for your practice experience and reflect on the potential strengths and limitations of the approach to poverty action assumed by your organization. This will involve discussing the political and ethical issues raised by the specific nature of this organization and its projects.
Resume or a list of your past and current jobs/internships/volunteer positions relevant to your Practice Experience
