WITH THE CHANGING SEASONS, COMES NEW BEGINNINGS…
Changing leaves…cooler weather…back to school…changing schedules. Along with the changes of a new season comes changes in staffing. As many of our staff continue their educations or pursue their career goals, we say a sad goodbye and send them off with warm wishes. But as with any change, new doors of opportunity and possibilities are opening. We welcome ALL of our new staff, and encourage each of you to take time to meet and learn to know them!
As the seasons change, so does the weather. Everyone is encouraged to check the extra clothing in your child’s cubby and to exchange summer wear for warmer clothing as cooler days begin to approach!

COMMUNITY OUTREACH PROJECT…
Since September 19th is “Thank a Police Officer Day”, the Early Challenges’ family will be showing its support for our local agencies service and protection of our community! Please assist our endeavor by placing donated items in the donation box in the front entry by September 25th for distribution to our dedicated law enforcement. Please see attachment for items desired. These items will be sorted into small care packages and accompanied by thank you notes from our children. Thanks for your support of our project. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
OFFICE REMINDER…
1. Registration fee of $100 was applied to accounts in August and is due by September 30th.
2. All cash payments must be remitted to administration for a receipt. No cash will be accepted after 5:00 p.m.
3. New USDA paperwork must be completed by each family this month as new forms are being implemented. These forms will be handed out on Thursday, September 1st and must be returned to the office by September 30th.
SPECIAL SEPTEMBER HAPPENINGS…
For career week September 5-9, special guests will visit the children to talk about their jobs, sharing what they do each day. If you have an interest in participating, please contact administration.
For the week of traditions and heritage, we will celebrate Grandparents’ Day on September 11th by sharing time with some of our grandparents. A sign-up sheet has been placed on your child’s classroom door for grandparents who would like to come in and share a story, music, craft, etc. with the children. Please sign up soon!
On Monday, September 26th to celebrate National Pancake Day, the children will assist in making our afternoon snack of PANCAKES with cool whip and fresh fruit topping! Mmm!
DIMES FOR DAYCARE
First of all, thanks to everyone for working so hard to fill our jar. We will continue collecting until the jug is overflowing!! Once again, the funds will be used for special programs and activities to be brought to the center for our children to participate in such as Lib’s Labs Puppet Show which the children thoroughly enjoyed this summer. Children and parents alike are encouraged to donate their dimes.
SAFETY/SECURITY REMINDERS…
Due to recent news in our area concerning child safety issues, we would like to remind you of some of our safety policies:
a. Although it is generally a polite gesture, please do not hold the door for others entering the building. Everyone must enter with their own door code or by the guest button.
b. Anyone picking up a child who is not already fingerprinted must present identification.
c. Do not share your door code with anyone…even family members.
d. Always walk your child to the classroom and make contact with teacher.

Just a reminder that we still have a few Early Challenges’ Cookbooks left for sale. Remember that these cookbooks are filled with two hundred and fifty delicious recipes from our staff, parents, and children alike. Pick up a copy for $10 and fix one of the many recipes from Banana Pudding Fit for a King to Black Bean and Salsa Soup to Scalloped Vegetable Casserole to Beef Stroganoff Sandwiches to the Above Ground Morning Special. Learn from our children how to fix pancakes, chicken nuggets, chocolate cake, or how to simply open the bag and take out a burger cheese! Stop by the office soon to purchase one of our last copies!!
