The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond is currently recruiting for a Publications Intern. The position is located in Richmond, VA. The ideal candidate will assist and receive training in a broad range of activities in the Publications unit of the Research Department. Such activities will include assisting in the editing, writing, and production of the unit's publications including Region Focus, Economic Quarterly, the Economic Briefs series, the Working Papers series, and the Annual Report. In addition, the student intern may be called upon to perform routineand miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assists with varied publication staff responsibilities, including writing and editing, proofreading, and fact and reference checking.
  • Conducts background research, online and print-based, for Bank publications.
  • Prepares and checks articles for the Bank's public website.
  • Locates and suggests artwork to be used in Bank publications.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college degree program, preferably a rising junior or senior.
  • Economics major preferred; some writing/editing experience strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 grade point average.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Effective interviewing skills.
  • Basic knowledge of and experience in use of research techniques.
  • Proficiency in searching and navigating Internet sites, especially bibliographic databases (JSTOR and EBSCO).
  • Ability to work well in a team setting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.

The market price range for this position is $14.80 - $23.13, hourly. The hiring range for the position is $14.80+, hourly. Salary offered will be based on the job responsibilities and the individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience as defined in the job qualifications/experience.
