PRESS RELEASE

Eilersen puts a sheep

with a winter coat out to grass

Jens Juul Eilersen has created the Sheep sofa, which is a minimalist sofa intended for a time when consumers are demanding gentleness and softness. Like a well-covered flock, Sheep is proud and elegant on its slim, high legs and it radiates a lightness that is new for Eilersen’s floating sofas.

Eilersen’s sofa universe been known for its floating sofas for many years. These are strong and expressionistic sofas, of which Baseline in particular has established its name as a bestseller. Sheep is part of the same family but has been given extra upholstery, and at the same time has been raised up on legs.

Slightly rounded without being too thick

“Sheep has been slightly rounded on purpose,” says Jens Juul Eilersen. He elaborates, “My aim was to design a soft version in the flock of floating sofas and Sheep is the flock’s soft ewe. The great challenge with soft, upholstered furniture is durability because it’s no use if the sofa is squashed flat in just a few days. I have therefore focused on the sofa being both comfortable and durable. Sheep is upholstered in soft foam and there is a good 600 grams of fibre filled into all areas on top of that, resulting in a ‘sheep in fibre’s clothing’. It makes it round, soft, comfortable – and simultaneously very simple. Like a woman, a sofa must have a little filling, and Sheep has both a full, soft appearance whilst being very soft to sit on.”

Sheep has been put out to grass to grow large

N. Eilersen A/S has great plans for Sheep. In the first instance, the sofa is produced in units 110 cm wide and 100 cm deep with a corner element of 108 x 108. “If the grass is long enough, it will be able to grow large,” grins Jens Juul Eilersen. He explains, “We are certain that we have caught the current soft tones but it’s the consumer who always has the final say. If our expectations are met, Sheep will be given permission to breed and will become a large flock with a chaise longue, footstools and units in masses of sizes.”

Enjoy an Eilersen

Your home should be a place where you feel good. It is a place where you can surround yourself with things that you have chosen – because you need them, and because they speak to you. The forms, colours and styles of the furniture speak to your senses. It is therefore not important how a sofa fulfils its task. Your sofa should be both good to sit on and live up to your life values and taste for the aesthetic. We know all the feeling of being in a location we can rely on. We therefore say: Enjoy an Eilersen
