All workshops and classes are taught by Christy Knight, Art Coach and Science Illustrator. Christy takes a personal approach to teaching art in private and small group settings and encourages students to follow their own paths armed with the extensive, detailed knowledge of classical skills she provides in a nurturing manner. She believes anyone can learn to draw who wants to and is passionate about the subject they are drawing. She can help with both!

· Basic supplies are included in the fee along with a suggested supply list for further study. There is no hidden registration or membership fee.

· Christy tailors the curriculum to your age group and abilities, so if you don't see what you're looking for, please inquire and she will try to honor your request.

Mapping Your Visual Family Tree, Workshop

A Saturday in December or January, 10-2

Personal, not pretentious, is the mantra to uphold when organizing and illustrating your family tree. The medium, visual symbolism and design of your tree all go into the drawing process and we will explore the various options while producing a design layout and game plan to begin the methodical production of your final work. Along with individual attention to your project, the Instructor will also share examples of unique trees she has produced for families. Please pack a lunch for this four hour workshop. $160, supplies included.

Private Lessons in Art, by Appointment

Engage the senses as you take a botanical sojourn in the field and studio. The foundation of all our classes and workshops began with this professional, private instruction which has been taught and developed by Christy Baker Knight over the last fifteen years. Christy reveals the tools and techniques garnered from a lifetime of experience as an Illustrator and Artist.

Private Lessons are professionally tailored to the specific needs of the Artist and may include drawing, painting, watercolor, botanical studies, portraiture, color theory, art history, all of the above or other area of concern. This time is all yours! Gift certificates available.

$50 per hour lesson for children, $40 per hour for a block of four or more lessons

$60 per hour lesson for adults, $50 per hour for a block of four or more lessons

The Art and Science of Color Workshop for any age group

Saturday, February 6, 10 am-1pm as a suggestion, open to other dates for groups of three or four

Shake off those winter blahs with this engaging program all about color! Colors come alive in this in-depth exploration of the science behind the shades, tints and hues we see all around us. We will learn about value, harmony and color theory and how to use this knowledge in our art and in our lives. Please pack a lunch for this three hour workshop. $75, supplies included

Drawing from Great Literature, for Children

Tuesdays or Wednesdays, 4:00-5:30pm, Jan-March (8 weeks) ages 7-10

Elementary age students will be given the unique opportunity to learn important drawing tools and techniques while listening to the Instructor read The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame. This classic, witty and engaging story provides a foundation for our studies as we learn to draw landscapes, animals and other aspects of nature using our right brains while our left brains are free to focus on listening to the great writing of the story. This is a technique the Instructor uses in producing her own work and is proven to increase focus and the quality of the artistic experience, not to mention exposure to great literature. We will also study the exquisite illustrations for this story by Michael Hague. Outdoor activity and a snack is included in the lesson time, weather permitting. $125, supplies included
