First is Near Chiplun in Koyana region, secondBhairavgad is in Malshej Ghat and third Bhairavgadis the one which we are going for trekking located in Shirpunje village 27 kms from Rajur in the Akole taluka of Ahmednagar district.

There are two approaches to reach Bhairavgad 1) From Shirpunje village 2) From Ambit village nearby Pachnaai, the base village of Harishchandragad. This fort is believed to be ancient and almost 2500 years old. This fort has only few ruins and remains on the top. There are two big caves on the top of which one cave is a shrine of Lord Bhairavnath, the idol in this cave is carved, painted and this shrine is well maintained by the villagers of Shirpunje. Theother cave is used for residence purpose by trekkers and visitors. There are many water tanks on the top but only one tank is suitable for drinking.

Kaladgad – 3200 feet above MSL (Approx)

This Hill fort is located right angle of the well spread Harishchandragad in Dist Ahmednagar. This fort is located south of Pethechi Wadi village. Many call it Shiva Lingam and Nandi combo, as it looked like that.

Our memories of Bhairavgad & Kaladgad

About Haishchandragad

Harishchandragad is one of the most interestingand popular treks in Maharastra.

The entire mountain area of Harishchandragad is situated on the borders of three districts- Thane, Pune and Nagar.

There are various routes to approach Harishchandragad. The ideal approaches are two. One is from Malshej Ghat through Khireshwar village, from which we have to climb Tolarkhind to reach the fort. Another approach is via Rajur to Pachnai Village through which we climb the fort. (Our route)

It is surrounded by luscious evergreen forest and is gifted with a cool and pleasant climate. One can enjoy wonderful view of surrounding region and several forts from top.

On the mountain top is situated Harishchandreshwar Temple which has a very peculiar style of construction. Also Kedareshwar Caves which are full of icy cold water and a huge Shivalinga. There is many more to see on Harishchandragad such as Pushkarni or Saptateertha, origin of MangalgangaRiver, Taramati and the glorious and most famous KONKANKADA.

Konkankada is a huge semicircular rock wall across the plateau. It is best seen at sunset.
