Gifted Education

SCREENING CRITERIA

Students being considered for the Gifted Program must have Two of any of the following criteria to move from the screening process to the evaluation process.

Kindergarten

  1. Ratings of 4 and 5 on all Pathways assessments given during the First Semester.
  2. Ratings of 4 in all areas indicated on the Report Card for Second Quarter.
  3. Score at the 75th or higher percentile on the Teacher Recommendation Form. If more than one teacher complete a Teacher Recommendation Form, that the student must have an average at the 75thor higher percentile.

1st Grade

  1. Ratings of 4 and 5 on all Pathways assessments given during the First Semester
  2. A score on the Gates-MacGinitie Reading Assessment at the 90th or higher percentile.
  3. Score at the 75th or higher percentile on the Teacher Recommendation Form. If more than one teacher complete a Teacher Recommendation Form, that the student must have an average at the 75thor higher percentile.

2nd Grade

  1. Ratings of 4 and 5 on all Pathways assessments given during the First Semester
  2. A score on the Gates-MacGinitie Reading Assessment at the 90th or higher percentile.
  3. A cumulative average of 90 or higher percent on 2/4 subjects on the district’s grade level assessments (formative/summative/benchmark) given during the First Semester.
  4. Score at the 75th or higher percentile on the Teacher Recommendation Form. If more than one teacher complete a Teacher Recommendation Form, that the student must have an average at the 75thor higher percentile.

3rd Grade

  1. A score at the 90thor higher percentile on the Gates MacGinitie Reading Assessment
  2. A cumulative average of 90 or higher percent on 2/4 subjects on the district’s grade level assessments (formative/summative/benchmark) given during the First Semester.
  3. Score at the 75th or higher percentile on the Teacher Recommendation Form. If more than one teacher complete a Teacher Recommendation Form, that the student must have an average at the 75thor higher percentile.

4th –8th Grades

  1. A score at the 90thor higher percentile on the Gates MacGinitie Reading Assessment
  2. A rating at the Advanced Level on the most recent MAP/EOC test
  3. A cumulative average of 90 or higher percent on 2/4 subjects on the district’s grade level assessments (formative, summative, benchmark) given during the First Semester.
  4. Score at the 75th or higher percentile on the Teacher Recommendation Form. If more than one teacher complete a Teacher Recommendation Form, that the student must have an average at the 75thor higher percentile.

9th—12th Grades

  1. A rating at the Advanced Level on the most recent MAP/EOC test
  2. A cumulative average of 90 or higher percent on 2/4 subjects on the district’s grade level assessments (formative, summative, benchmark) given during the First Semester.
  3. Score at the 75th or higher percentile on the Teacher Recommendation Form. If more than one teacher complete a Teacher Recommendation Form, that the student must have an average at the 75thor higher percentile.
