Meeting was called to order at 5:35.

Fundraiser (Brianna Nony)

  • Sales of over 29,000
  • Goal was 25,000 and budgeted amount was 28,000 so we did great
  • Enrollment is down ~60 kids and sales are up
  • Entertainment books will go home Monday
  • Hoyt’s class sold the most and won Corey the Snake
  • 2nd-Barnhart
  • 3rd-McManus
  • Limo ride Nov 3rd
  • 69 kids qualified

Uniforms (Kayla Wilkins)

  • Large white shirts are in
  • Shorts have been ordered
  • Need Adult XL shirts
  • Voted to add a navy zip up hoodie with Williams logo imprint to the uniform
  • Youth sizes will cost us 13.50+tax to purchase
  • Adult sizes will cost us 17.50+tax to purchase
  • Sell youth for 16 and adult for 20, unless we have to pay shipping, then sell adult for 21 (so we don’t lose money on them)
  • Spirit T-shirts
  • Ordered 310 – have about 10 left
  • Ordered 140 more and sold about 25
  • Tomorrow and next Thursday are spirit days

Watch Dogs – no report

Ice Maker (Mrs. Register)

  • No response from district

Box Tops (Kathy Rich)

  • Waited until fundraising done
  • Banner will be put out next week
  • Occasional incentives
  • Extended recess
  • Spirit shirts worn by class with most
  • Banner on class door of class with most
  • Monthly collection on 25th
  • Announce top 5 on morning announcements monthly
  • Talk to Cary Collins about a sign
  • Put updates in the newspaper and newsletter
  • Send reminder updates to parents
  • Competition end Apr 25th
  • 1st week in May announce winning class
  • Does anyone have a connection to Edward’s Food Giant?
  • Maybe they would let us put a collection box there

Good Citizen

  • Bulletin board is in progress
  • Photos will be up soon of September good citizens
  • Combined celebration for Sept and Oct

Honor Roll

  • Do a fun activity instead of an assembly
  • Museum of Discovery
  • Skating rink
  • Historic Arkansas museum
  • No stickers, certificates, etc., just ribbons
  • Dog tags for backpacks customized for math achievement, perfect attendance, etc
  • Insert in Soaring High Herald with names and photos of kids in each class

Bylaws

  • Need bylaws approved by board to be part of LR and AR PTA council
  • 3 person nominating committee needed – if you want to be on it, talk to Kate
  • Nominations made at March meeting
  • Voted on at April meeting
  • Bylaws were accepted

Directory (Dinesh Moorjani)

  • Nov 9th general PTA meeting is goal
  • Would like to send home draft for corrections
  • Will try to have 1st draft in next 3 weeks

Check us out days (Kate Franks)

  • Nov 9-11
  • Nov 11 is a state holiday, so volunteer to help then if you work for the state
  • Flyer – add teachers with advanced degrees and national board certification
  • Try to form a committee of parents to give tours
  • Start on check us out days
  • Then try adding other days as needed

VIPS Reading Day (Kate Franks)

  • Nov 16th
  • Sign up downtown at the VIPS office

Recruiting parents as subs (Lisa Leggett)

  • We need more good subs
  • Consider if you would be interested and are available for this
  • 2 hour training required
  • Can specify only Williams
  • Cost $10 for child maltreatment check and state police fingerprint check
  • Cost $5 for TB test (if already have current one don’t have to repeat)
  • Get paid about $50 per day with college degree
  • Mrs. Register will try to set up days ahead of time for planned absences
  • Let Lisa know if you’re interested

Room parents

  • Needed for Benson, Walker, and Thomasen
  • Cynthia Bennett is coordinator
  • If she emails Mrs. Register, Mrs. Register will forward it to the teachers to see if they got any volunteers at the open house

Principal’s report (Mrs. Register)

  • This fundraiser was the easiest ever. I didn’t have to get involved at all. Thanks

Treasurer (Kim Markland)

  • Lots of activity in September
  • Fundraiser money is in
  • PTA memberships are paid
  • Paid for 100% parents and teachers by early bird date to council
  • School supplies reimbursed
  • On budget so far
  • If you follow the budget carefully for your line (ie: teacher appreciation), call Kim to see how much you have left on line item if you need to know

November general meeting (Kate Franks)

  • What do we do?
  • Songs from medieval magic
  • Counselor gets a speaker

Miscellaneous

  • No word back on bathrooms
  • Teachers wouldn’t be opposed to a new microwave – one doesn’t work
  • Cleanup day in spring
  • Lines on playground need to be repainted – Mrs. Register is trying to get the district to do that because they can do it straight
