Dear Prospective Pilot Accounting Student,

As a part of the course selection process for the 2013-14 school year, you requested to take The Accounting Pilot and Bridge Project course offered at WTHS. Since you have chosen to take this course as a dual enrollment course, there are requirements.

Because you have chosen a more rigorous course of study for next year, you are expected to demonstrate readiness for college-level coursework in The Accounting Pilot and Bridge Project course, as determined by the college.

As a dual enrollment student, you must maintain a minimum grade of “C” to stay enrolled. Centennial School District will award you credit and recognize courses that are successfully completed under this agreement as fulfilling the graduation requirement for the District. The College will award postsecondary credit to students who successfully complete courses identified in this agreement as well. The College will record this credit in a manner similar to other students who take a course at this institution. If a dual enrollment student becomes a regularly enrolled student at the College following graduation from secondary school, the College shall recognize those credits as applying to the student’s degree requirements as it would for any regularly enrolled postsecondary student who took the course.

Hence, students will be provided with a transcript from Gwynedd-Mercy College with their earned grade from the dual enrollment program. If you choose to go to another institution you will have a transcript that will be provided through Gwynedd-Mercy College.

Since Gwynedd-Mercy College is an accredited institution, other colleges or universities that accept transferring credits could choose to recognize those credits and apply them to the student’s degree requirements as it would for any student who would transfer credits.

In preparation for this opportunity to earn three college credits, you are required to fill out the application for Gwynedd-Mercy College. The cost for dual enrollment is $400. There are two forms that are to be filled out completely and returned to Ms. Fisher by Friday, September 20, 2013.

The Accounting Pilot and Bridge Project Course will be the accepted course for graduation from William Tennent High School and this course will be ACCOUNTING 105 from Gwynedd-Mercy College.

I cannot encourage you enough to take the first steps toward dual enrollment success by meeting with your Accounting teacher and reviewing what will make your experience positive.

Good Luck!
