AMERICAN EDUCATION WEEK is here! The week of November 14th is American Education Week! We have planned several events for you and your children so please come up and visit us to see what is going on in our school.

Monday – November 14, 2011

Crazy Socks Day!!! – Students and Staff will come to school with their craziest socks on!! Students must wear uniforms.

Bullying Forum with City Schools Police – Our 4th and 5th grade scholars will attend an informational session on bullying with Police Officer Everette.

Tuesday – November 15, 2011

Dynamic Denim Day! – Students and Staff are invited to wear their favorite denim bottom to school. StudentsMUST have on their uniform shirt in order to participate in Dynamic Denim Day.

College Shirts for Staff! – Harford Heights staff members will come dressed up in their favorite college shirts. Staff members will share positive school experiences with students.

School Open House for Parents/Guardians – All parents/guardians are invited to spend the morning in their child’s classroom from 9-10am. Come by to see some of the great things that are happening at our school. At 10:00 am you are invited to the 2nd floor cafeteria to have muffins and coffee. It’s a good time to share our thoughts about what’s happening here at The Amazing Harford Heights.

Wednesday – November 16, 2011

Crazy Hat Day – Students and Staff will come to school with their most creatively crazy hats on!! Students must wear uniforms.

Education Support Professionals Day – We would like to celebrate the outstanding work of individuals who provide invaluable services to our school every day. ESPs include: paraeducators, office assistants, bus drivers, custodians, food service workers, school nurse, and school police. We salute you and all that you do to ensure that our students receive an education in an environment that is conducive to learning.

Parents vs. Staff Basketball Game – If you are a parent/guardian and think “You Got Game” and want to have a fun time battling the Amazing Harford Heights Staff in basketball, please sign up in the main office. The game will take place at 2:00 pm, in the gymnasium. For any questions, please see Ms. Bowman.

Thursday – November 17, 2011

Topsy-Turvy Day– Students and Staff are invited to have a topsy-turvy day by wearing mismatched shoes and socks! Students must wear uniforms.

Volunteer Appreciation Day – We would like to celebrate our current volunteers who come to “work” every week to ensure the success of all of our scholars. All previously registered volunteers are welcome to donuts and juice in the parent room at 10am.

YoJo “Bully No More” Assembly - Synopsis: YoJo now has a bullying problem. The problem is that YoJo’s the bully! In fact, YoJo initially uses bully tactics just to get laughs from others. But when YoJo realizes how frightening and harmful bullying can be, he learns how unfunny and “uncool” being a bully really is.

Resource Culminating Activity: Today our scholars will display all the skills they have learned in resource class for Quarter 1. There will be no resource classes today.

Substitute Educators Day – Today we salute our substitute teachers. These professional educators perform a vital function in the maintenance and continuity of daily education. In our public school systems, substitutes are the educational bridges when regular classroom educators are absent.

Our Favorite Read Aloud – Today during our normal Daily Rap session all classes will engage in active listening of their teacher’s favorite Read Aloud.

We have to raise our children as a community and we need you every step of the way. Please share in our celebrations!
