Willamette District Awards SOG

1)  Awards Given

  1. Individual Class:

(a)  Typically, top placing athlete will be awarded a trophy item labeled with the appropriate designation

1.  For example: Hunt Seat Equitation

a.  1st place receives: Jacket embroidered with “OHSET Champion Hunt Seat equitation 2011”

(b)  Medallions will be provided to gold, silver and Bronze winner

(c)  Typically, top 5 individuals will receive a top 5 patch with the year and the event on it.

  1. Team Class: Each member (including alternates) of the top three placing teams will be awarded with the appropriate medallion.

a)  Typically the individual members of these teams will be trophy items similar to Individual Class’s.

  1. High Point Divisions:

a)  There are three Individual High Point Divisions: Performance, Timed Events, and Versatility.

(1)  These are determined by the total number of individual points earned at District Meets. For further details and scoring, refer to the “points” section of the rule book.

(2)  Each of these divisions typically awards its champion with a Silver belt buckle, and have incumbent sponsors that need to be given first right of refusal for each new year’s sponsorship.

(3)  Typically, awards are given to 1st-10th place winners in each of these high point divisions.

b)  Rookie of the Year

(1)  Typically; awards are given to the Champion and Reserve Champion.

c)  High Point Team Contributor Also Awarded a Buckle

(1)  This award is determined by the total number of team points earned by an individual at the District Meets.

(a)  For example: If an individual competed in IHOR, Drill, Team Canadian Flags, Working Pairs, Team Penning, and Birangle at the District Meets, all of the points earned in those events would be added together for his/her placing in the High Point Team Contributor award.

(2)  Typically, awards are given to 1st-10th place winners in each of these high point divisions.

2)  High Point Team

a)  Mini, Small, Medium, and Large team division champions will be awarded with a trophy appropriate to the achievement. This trophy is designed to be displayed in the school.

b)  Willamette District will use the State designation for determining team size.

3)  Other Awards given at the Ceremony

a)  District Officers recognized for their service

b)  Scholarships Awarded

c)  Sportsmanship

d) 

4)  Awards should be chosen with not only the division in mind but also evaluated from a recognition and advertising point of view

(1)  The goals of the High Point Division awards are to recognize the athlete’s achievement as well as promote the OHSET name within the horse community. Therefore the awards should be items that the athletes are likely to use often and in public.
