Dear Family,
The Panther baseball program is preparing to order the uniform apparel for the 2003-2004-baseball season. With that in mind, the information below addresses the varsity uniform that will be worn by our athletes.
Varsity
a) The school provides varsity Jerseys and Pants. (Home-white and Away-gray) The athlete
will return them at the end of the season
b) Each player will wear a dark green pre-game shirt (home games) or a black pre-game shirt
(away games) with the following screen printing on the front:
Panthers (in script writing) with a tail below the word Panthers. In the tail will be the school name “Pine Crest”. The screen print will be double colored with black on white for the home shirt and dark green on white on the away shirt. Additionally, the shirt will have a 4” number on the front and an 8” number on the back. The numbers will also be black on white for the home shirt and dark green on white for the away shirt. We will assign numbers based on seniority with the team, followed by participation in the off-season conditioning. The athlete will keep this shirt at the end of the season so the athlete will purchase them.
The school will provide the gray pants and the white game pants. The athlete will return the
pants them at the end of the season.
The school will provide a green belt and a black belt. The athlete will return them at the end of the season.
Green socks and black socks (not stirrups) will be ordered for the athlete. Each athlete can order as many socks as he would like (at least one of each is required). The athlete will keep these at the end of the season so the athlete will purchase the socks.
A dark green and a black fitted baseball cap will be provided by the school and should be worn to all practices and games.
c)Each player may order as many of the practice shirts as they would like. Each day, the members of the team are expected to wear this shirt to practice along with gray or white baseball pants (which will not be provided by the school and not to be the game pants).
d)Each player should strongly consider ordering a dark green and or a black mock turtleneck shirt for games on cold days. The letters PC are embroidered in white on the collar. Returning players may use theirs from a previous year provided it does not show signs of serious fading from wear or washing.
e)Each player is highly encouraged order the official Pine Crest Panther Baseball Jacket (if they do not have one). It is a lined, pullover, V-neck windbreaker. The jacket is black in color. Double colored, tackle-twill script lettering on the chest spells: Panther with a tail below this word having sewn in the word Baseball (in white). The tackle-twill colors are dark green on white. This is a special order item and must be ordered at least two months in advance.
f)Each player is encouraged to order a personal black helmet that will be used in games. The athletes will be awarded helmet stickers to recognize their accomplishments throughout the season. If a returning player has their helmet from the previous year and it is in good shape, then they need not buy another.
For the Parents:
The program has traditionally ordered a polo style shirt from the Antigua Corporation that has the official Pine Crest Baseball insignia embroidered on the left chest. An order form for this will go out shortly after the teams are selected. The athletes as well or anyone else in the family can wear this shirt. However, the shirts are generally only available adult sizes.
Please be aware that the baseball program does not use the sale of these items for profit or fund raising. Prices will all be given rounded to the nearest dollar but will reflect the actual cost that is required by the apparel companies. Below you will need to fill in the appropriate order form for your son’s team. Sixth, seventh and eighth graders are on the middle school team. Ninth and tenth graders are typically on the junior varsity team and 11th and 12th graders are on the varsity team unless otherwise informed.
The varsity team will have room for 18 athletes. The junior varsity will take up to 20 athletes. The teams will be selected in January after the first week of practice and tryouts. If your son is not one of the athletes chosen to compete the school will refund the money for any of the UNUSED/RETURNED items that were ordered. If you are at all unsure of your son’s chances of making the team, please consider the expense of a jacket when placing your order form.
