Dear Parent/Guardian,

Parents approaching children

We have had several incidents recently of parents approaching other people’s children to speak to them about various issues that their own child has raised. This, not surprisingly has upset the parents of the children concerned. Where you do have issues that need to be resolved please come into school and make an appointment so that we can sort things out for you. In my experience we can sort things out much easier, usually the children make up quicker than the adults do and it is frightening for children to be approached in this way.

Sponsored athlete visit

Yesterday the whole school completed their sponsored fitness circuit with help and encouragement from Team GB athlete Gianni Frankis. Everybody participated fully and embraced the challenges that they were set, demonstrating their fantastic growth mindset. Gianni said that he was incredibly impressed with how well the children pushed themselves and gave everything a go.

Please ensure that your child’s sponsorship form and money are returned by Friday 2ndFebruary.

Swimming Gala

Congratulations to the gala squad who competed in the first round of the Wickford gala. The results are in! We won the Year 3/4 as well as the Year 5/6 galas so everyone has qualified for the finals next term. Well done to all the pupils who took part.

Parents Evenings – Tuesday 27th February and Thursday 1st March.

Letters were sent home today. For the parents who would like to see Mrs. Roder, our Senco who supports children with additional needs, will be available to see you with your child’s teacher. Please make sure you tick the relevant box on the form. If you would like an additional appointment, at a later date, this can be made on the evening.

6E visit to the CLC – Wednesday 31st January 9.00 – 12.15pm.

We still need helpers for this visit. The children will be walking to the CLC at 9.00am and leaving at 12.15pm. If you’re able to help on this visit please contact the office, thank you.

Earrings and after school clubs

In line with Essex County Council guidelines, children must remove their earrings for all sporting activities. This includes P.E. lessons, before and after school activity clubs. We are unable to tape them or remove your child’s earrings for them.

A letter, authorisation form and medical form were sent home this week and are also on the school website. Please return these by Friday 23rd February to secure your child’s place. If your contact details change nearer the time please contact the office to update us, thank you.

Parent Lunches

Ideally we would like just one parent to come in for their child’s parent lunch but will accept two at the moment but cannot accommodate any more than this as we have to get 385 children through the hall in limited time and with limited space. I will monitor this over the coming weeks to ascertain if we need to limit numbers further and will let you know should we need to do so.

Please arrive at reception by 12.10pm. Both parents and children are to order dinners. We cannot accept late orders as the parents lunches have to be ordered in advance.

5E – Thursday 1st February – We cannot take any more orders.

6W – Thursday 8th February - We cannot take any more orders.

6F – Thursday 22nd February – Parent orders and payment must be returned by Thursday 1st February.

6E – Thursday 1st March - Parent orders and payment must be returned by Thursday 8th February.
