Introduction

Wi-fi ShowMate Introduction

Wi-fi ShowMate enables its networking group users in meetings, classrooms, and other occasions to project multimedia contents wirelessly from any participants’ PC/Mac/iPhone/iPad/Android Tablet devices onto the same display screen that saves meetings and classrooms from the hardware unplug & plug and software setup hassles and interruption.

Wi-fi ShowMate’s many other features, such as High-Definition audio video display quality, multiple users wireless projection control, and multiple users annotation help create a Wireless, Interactive, and Full Participation environment that today’s conferences and classes demand for.

Wireless Projection

With unique multimedia encoding/decoding, Ethernet Client-Server Networking, and wireless projection control advanced technologies supports, ShowMate provides real-time no-lag wireless projection and the wireless freedom that saves users from any hardware plug & unplug and software setup hassles, and worries free about the connection interfaces compatibility for the projection switching.

Multiple Networking Connection Choices

ShowMate provides 3 networking connection options: User can choose at own convenience of working environment either one of wired, wireless, and wi-fi hot-spot connection. ShowMate can even function as Router for Internet connection.

PC/Mac/iPhone/iPad/Android Tablet Supports

ShowMate provide cross-board compatibility supports for wireless projection among a great variety of mainstream user devices models in the market, including PC/Mac/iPhone/iPad (AirPlay)/Android Tablet (DLNA).

Multiplex Communication and Projection Control Management

ShowMate’s multiplex communication capability allows client users to control the wireless projection operation via the ShowMate server; and vice versa, the ShowMate server host can also control the wireless projections among all client users’ devices, and also to control and manage the order of different client users projections – one at a time.

Multiple Users Annotation and Automatic History Recording

ShowMate’s included Annotation Software provides ShowMate networking group users the freedom and power to do annotation anywhere on projection contents, and at any time during the wireless projection. All annotations will be automatically saved for future retrieving and reviewing, which, the feature, is especially great for meetings or training classes that demand for interaction and full participation.

High Definition (HD) Quality Audio Video Display

ShowMate supports most of main stream video, music, and picture formats for HD quality display outputs. You can retrieve HD quality multimedia contents from any compatible Computers, Cellular Phones, and Tablet PC – mainly PC/Mac/iPhone/iPad (AirPlay)/Android Tablet (DLNA) to project wirelessly onto any ShowMate connected display screen, or also to retrieve from local media storage devices, such as USB flash drive, SD Memory Card, and etc., to playback such HD audio video files.

The parts are different between HDMI product and VGA product. Please confirm with distributor before you buy it.

1 Start-up and Connections

1.1 ShowMate Server Setup and Connections:

Connect ShowMate with any Display Devices (like TV Screen, Projector), and turn on the power of connected display device.

  • ShowMate (HDMI) Version Users: Connect one end of the package provided HDMI cable with ShowMate’s HDMI port, and the other end of HDMI cable with display device’s HDMI port
  • ShowMate (VGA) Version Users: Use package provided VGA Video Cable and 3.5mm Audio Cable to connect both ShowMate and Display Device

Other Connections: ShowMate provides LAN Port/USB Ports/SD Slot for connections with other devices like Mouse, USB Drive, SD Card, LAN networking cable for extended application.

Turn on the Power of ShowMate, the ShowMate will start to initiate, and automatically enter the ShowMate Server Home Page - the Stand-by Mode. The ShowMate Server is now ready for use.

1.2 Client Computers and Other Devices Connections:

Connect Client Computers or other devices to the same network with the ShowMate Server’s, which device name is shown on the ShowMate Server Home Page. (For example, ShoMate0213 in this illustration).

Open Client Computer’s/Device’s any available Web Browsers, like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Fire Fox, and etc., then type in the IP Address of ShowMate Serve shown on the Home Page ( the factory default – to access the ShowMate Software Download Web Page to download ShowMate PC or Mac version driver and application software.

Once ShowMate software is successfully installed and activated, connected Client Computers or Devices are now ready for Wireless Projection.

For more detailed instructions for Client Computers Connections please refer to Section 3.1 ~ 3.2 Windows PC/Mac Connections.

2 ShowMate System Settings

2.1 ShowMate System Setup

Users can choose to use the ShowMate’s factory default settings, or adjust the settings according to their own working environment needs. Click on the System Settings option on the ShowMate Home Page to enter to change the settings of the following options.

2.1.1 ShowMate System Settings

Device Name: To give a device name for this specific ShowMate to distinguish from other ShowMate devices, which may be also installed and connected in the same networking group, for wireless projection.

Web Administrator Password:User can setup the Administrator Password for the access and authorization of the ShowMate Networking Group management. The default password is: 8888。

2.1.2 Display Resolution Settings

ShowMate supports multiple resolutions for choices. Choose the one that best fits your display screen. The maximum display resolution is Full HD (High Definition) 1920 x 1080.

To reach the most optimum Display Performance effect, users are suggested to select the resolution closer to the Display Device’s original resolution.

2.1.3 ShowMate Networking Group Setup

Users can select either Wired Network or Wireless Network (including Wi-fi Hot-Spot) to configure ShowMate’sproper networking group.

Wired Network Connection:Two options are provided for wired network connection – Connect Wired Network and Direct Client Computer Connection. Users can choose to either connect ShowMate with any available wired networking devices, such as Cable Modem, Router, Gateway, or connect direct with any Computer.

1)Wired Networks Setup:Using networking cable to connect ShowMate with any available networking devices, such as Router or Gateway.

Two IP Address Setup options are provided: IP Address: DHCP and IP Address: Static

Users can choose either IP Address: DHCP for automatic IP Address assignment, or IP Address: Static to set up IP address manually, if the Fixed Static IP Address assignment is available.

2)Direct Connect with Computers:Using networking cable to connect ShowMate directly with computer device.

Users are suggested to change the direct connected computer’s networking IP Address assignment to DHCP– the automatic dynamic IP address assignment for easier ShowMate external networking access.

Wireless Network:Users can either use ShowMate’s own Wi-fi connection to connect with any external (Internet) Network Access services, or use the ShowMate device itself to work as Local Wi-fi Hot-Spot Device.

1)Wireless Network Connection:

Users can use ShowMate’s own Wi-fi connection function to search and connect with any available external Wi-fi Wireless Networks shown on the searching list. Users will need necessary Password to access secured wireless networks. (Please consult with selected secured network site’s Network Administrator for access password and authorization)

Available SSIDs

After accessing the external network, users can choose either Auto or Manual IP Address option for Wireless Networking IP Address Assignment.

2)Wi-Fi Hot-Spot Connection: Choose this option to use ShowMate to function as Access Point (AP) for all Wi-fi capable computers or devices to connect with ShowMate wirelessly. Users need to change all Client Computers’ or Devices’ IP Address Assignment to DHCP – the automatic dynamic IP Address assignment for Wi-fi connections.

Notice1: Wired or Wireless Connection:Users can not access the external networks via both wired and wireless network connection at the same time, but to choose or switch to either one connection method – wired or wireless.

Notice2: ShowMate Wi-fi Router Function:ShowMate can be used as an Wi-fi Router. When ShowMate is connected with external Internet Access via wired networking connection, client computers or devices users can access the Internet connection by ShowMate’s Wi-fi Hot-Spot Router function.This method is suggested to be used for short time, and for Local Area Networking ONLY. This is not recommended for long time access of internet, and not for multiple client devices. Please be aware that use ShowMate as a Wi-fi Router would slow down the performance of all connected devices.

Notice3: ShowMate Wireless Networking Function: If to connect Client Computers directly with ShowMate using networking cable, all connected Client Computers can utilize the ShowMate devices Wi-fi function to access Internet Services.This method is suggested to be used ONLY for short time Local Area Networking and extended Internet Access using ShowMate’s Router function, and is not recommended for long time multiple client devices users’ internet access due to ShowMate’s performance could be affected and slowed down by overloaded computing demands.

When the ShowMate is not used as a Wi-fi Hot-Spot any more, all Client computers and devices for wireless projection have to be re-connected to the same Networking Group (SSID)with the ShowMate Server again.

2.1.4 Language Settings:

Users can switch ShowMate system language options between Simplified Chinese and English.

2.1.5 ShowMate System Information

Restart Device: Select this option to restart the ShowMate System

Restore Factory Settings: Use this option to reset all ShowMate System settings, including Screen Resolution, Network Settings to Factory’s Default Settings.

Firmware Upgrade: Choose this option to update ShowMate with the latest ShowMate Driver and Software Application version.

(Caution! Improper or failed firmware upgrades might cause damages to ShowMate and or stop ShowMate working. Users are suggested to consult with Factory or Authorized Dealer’s Customer Services for Firmware Upgrade help.)

Application Check:Online upgrading available by single click(please make sure it has connected to internet).

2.2 ShowMate Client Devices Management through Web Browser:

2.2.1 ShowMateSystem Management Web Page

Connect the Client Computer or Device to the ShowMate’s same networking group, and open any available Web Browser (Internet Explorer/Google/Firefox) to type in ShowMate Server’s IP Address shown on the ShowMate Home Page (the factory defaultis to enter the ShowMate Software Download/Projection Management/System Management web page.

  • If ShowMate is not used as Wi-fi Hot-Spot, connect the Client Computer or Device with the ShowMate Server’s same network, and proceed to the above mentioned procedures to open this ShowMate Software Download/Projection Management/System Management web page.
  • Use the factory default password: 8888 or any other previously set password to log in this Management web page.

2.2.2 ShowMate System Information

This web page will display the ShowMate System Information, including ShowMate Model Number, Firmware Version, Networking Status, and etc.,

2.2.3 ShowMate System Settings

This web page will display the ShowMate System Settings, including ShowMate Device Name, Video Output Resolution, and etc.,

2.2.4 Restart ShowMate

This web page provides one Restart ShowMate hot-key to restart ShowMate.

3. Real Time Wireless Projection

3.1 Wireless Projectionunder Microsoft Windows

3.1.1 ShowMate Windows Driver Download

Turn on(Client) Personal Computer’s Wireless Network Connection to search and choose from the Available Network Connection List to connect with the same ShowMate (Server) Network.i.e. ShowMate0123 in this illustrationshown on both the Available Network Connection List and the ShowMate Home Page.

Open (Client) PersonalComputer’s any available Internet Browser, such as Internet Explorer, Google, Firefox, and etc., and type in the URL Address Box/Searching Bar the ShowMate (Server) IP Address shown on the Home Page(For example: , the ShowMate IP Address in this illustration) to enter the Windows Driver Download Page.

If ShowMate is not used as Wi-fi Hot-Spot, user can still choose alternative wired/wireless connection methods to connect any (Client) PersonalComputers with the ShowMate (Server) within the same networking group to open theWindows Driver Download Page from any available Internet Browser. For example, (Client) PersonalComputer users can connect to the same external internet connection, such as AT&T, Verizon, BT (Plus Net), Vodfone, and any others, with which network that ShowMate (Server) is already connected, and to proceed the above Windows Driver Download procedures.

Toselect, download, and install either of the following versions under Windows:

  • Installation Basic Version –Windows Driver & Utilities installation procedures will be accomplished automatically and (Client) computer users can Run driver for immediate use and connection with the ShowMate (Server)
  • Installation Full Version – (Client) Personal Computer users can also choose to install Full Version, which the Virtual Video and Virtual Sound utilities are added to improve wireless audio visual projection performance.Firewall or Anti-Virus Warning Message Window might appear during the installation process to give “Access Blocked” warning, click “Allow Access” to continue to proceed the installation procedure Anyway.

3.1.2 Wireless Projection Connection

Once the Windows driver is downloaded, double click on the ShowMate icon (shortcut) on Desktop Screen or anywhere the ShowMate Program is located (usually under “All Programs”) to activate the ShowMate driver software, the (Client) computers will automatically search any available ShowMate (Servers) for Wireless Projection connections.

  • If Firewall or Anti-Virus Warning Message Window might appears again, click “Allow Access” to continue to activate ShowMate.
  • For those client devices with other User Accounts than Administrator, Right Click on the ShowMate icon to select “Run as Administrator” to activate ShowMate

Select and connect with either available ShowMate (Server) for Wireless Projection. Once the (Client) computers are succefully connected with ShowMate, the connected (Client) computer’s display screen content will immediately show on the ShowMate’s (Server) connected display sreen, like Projector Screen or LCD TV.

If to project Video and Sound as well for the wireless projection, Right Click on ShowMate icon to pull out Task Menu, and select “SetUp” option to open ShowMate Configuration Window to install and activate Audio Virtual Driver.

If the wireless Video projection is slow or even stagnant, and or the CPU Utilization Rate is found High, Right Click on the ShowMate icon to choose the “SetUp” option from Task Menu to install and activate Video Virtual Driver, to improve wireless Video projection performance.

If Black Screen (No Display Output) occurs at ShowMate’s connected display device’s screen, while the Client computer’s display screen is normal during the wireless projection, Uncheck the “Use Video Virtual Driver” box to Uninstall the Virtual Video Driver to see if the wireless projection will go back to normal.

Depending on connecting client computers’ specifications and networking environment, users can either choose Audio Compression, or to lower down value setting of Audio Sample Rate, Video Quality, Frames per Second in the ShowMate Configuration Window to improve slow Wireless Projection performance problems.

If to wirelessly project Video Streaming, and or Online Video Streaming, client computers or devices equipped with Intel i5 or equivalent processor and 4GB RAM Memory are highly recommended for more smooth wireless projection.

Lower down client computers’ or devices’ Display Resolution can also help improve the wireless projection speed.

Networking connection methods for better wireless projection: either Wired Connection of Wi-fi Hotspot is recommended for faster and better wireless projection performance. Also check on other factors affecting wireless projection performance, such as available Networking Bandwidth, Current Usage, Wi-fi Signal Strength on Different Locations, and Reliability, to adjust to improve the overall wireless projection performance.
