All persons as a part of the selection criteria will need to comply with the eligibility criteria and also undertake security vetting prior to appointment. It is important you know about this before you apply. If you have any concerns about this, or wish to discuss what this means for you then please email or telephone 01267 226 360.

Your Education, Training and Skills

It is not necessary to include all qualifications attained, only include those academic and professional qualifications that the role profile is seeking you to evidence. You will be asked to provide copies of original certificates for the qualifications listed if you attend an interview and these will be retained on file.

Your Employment

In this section please detail your current and previous employer, including full and part time work. Any gaps in your employment must also be evidenced.

We will not make enquiries with your current employer until you have been issued with a conditional offer of appointment.

Attainments

This is an extremely important section of the form and provides you with the opportunity to demonstrate your suitability to the role. Please follow carefully the instructions, (e.g. word limit) as failure to do so may result in your application being rejected.

You must evidence all of the essential attainments i.e. qualifications, skills and experience that are required as essential aspects for the post you have applied for. Please refer to the role profile for a list of the attainments applicable to this post.

An example of a qualification attainment is: Must be educated to degree standard”

You must provide evidence of this qualification through stating the subject of the degree course you attended, the place of study, the dates studied and the grade you achieved upon passing.

Please note for external qualifications proof of qualification will be required to be produced at the interview stage of the process. Failure to do so may result in your interview being delayed or postponed.

If the attainment is asking for a skill or experience, you must provide a detailed example of where you have demonstrated this skill or how you have gained this experience, it is not sufficient to just make a statement. For example:

Must demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving.

Wrong response: My current role requires me to overcome problems on a daily basis.

You would need to provide an example that demonstrates that you have problem solving skills, therefore you need to tell us exactly what the problem was and how you overcame it.

Right response: I was responsible for sending the company’s new brochure to print but our managing director requested significant changes to the design at the last minute and I knew that it would not be possible to meet the printers’ deadline. I had built a strong relationship with the printing company so my first move was to give them a call and explain the situation. It was agreed they would hold off for a few hours but I knew this would still not give the designers enough time."

"I then spoke to the designers and together we worked out what had to be changed and what was quick to change. I approached my managing director and explained that certain amends should be left as their significance was disproportionate to the late fees we would incur. Having secured his sign off, the designers focused on the main issues and we were able to send the brochure to print without being penalised.”

Equality and Diversity Monitoring Form

At the end of the application form there is an Equality and Diversity Monitoring Form.

This form is for monitoring purposes only and will be detached from the completed application form upon receipt. The Equality and Diversity form will be held separately and will not

be seen by the short listing or interview panels.

If successful at Interview what next?

Security Clearance

Regretfully if you fail to achieve security clearance your appointment will not be progressed.
