WHY DO YOU THINK THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY?

When a question is asked as this one we first need to understand that what I believe is relatively unimportant compared to what the scriptures, God's authority, actually teaches on this subject. In simple terms, we understand one is one as opposed to two or more.

The scriptures is filled with the statements telling us that "there is one God" (James 2:19; Deuteronomy 6:4). We also learn that there are many gods (idolatry), but only one God (Isaiah 46:5-10), just as there is one shepherd (John 10:16), one mediator (1 Timothy 2:5), and one lawgiver (James. 4:12). When we read the Bible we come to an understanding that the scriptures require unity of believers (Ephesians 4:3). This unity is made possible and is based on "One body" (church, Ephesians 4:4; cf. Ephesians1:22-23), "one spirit," "one hope of your calling" (heaven, Colossians 1:5), "one Lord" (Jesus, cf. Ephesians 3:14), "one faith" (gospel, Jude 3), "one baptism" (in water for forgiveness, Acts 2:38; 1 Peter 3:21), and "one God and Father" (Ephesians 4:4-6).

Jesus prayed that his followers would be one "that the world may believe that You sent me" (John 17:20-21). There was only one way (that is one correct way) in the first Century. Paul taught "everywhere in every church" (1 Corinthians 4:17). Paul did not teach something different everywhere he went (Galatians 1:6-9). Division in religious matters as we know it today, did not exist there was only one church, teaching the same doctrine and practicing the same beliefs.

Brethren, I know that the world has been led to believe in multiplicity and diversity. We are told that those who believe in only one way or truth are radical, wrong or even dangerous. So it is asked why we believe there is only one way. It is because the scriptures say so (Acts 9:2; 18:26; 19:9, 23; 24:22). How about you, what do you believe and why do you believe it?
