TWIRL M’s Information

Detroit Zoo

8450 W. 10 Mile, Royal Oak, MI

Note: there is construction along the Woodward and the 696 service drive that will affect the flow of traffic into the zoo. It will take you longer to get off the freeway and into the zoo so please leave yourself plenty of time.

I. No Later than 7:15 am ~Enter the Zoo through Administration Gate #4. The gate is accessible off the I-696 W service drive. A list with all your names was provided to the Zoo staff. After the Zoo staff check’s off your name you will turn right and go toward the Zoo’s large parking lot. Park in the large parking (parking is free).

II. No Later than 7:30am~Please enter the Zoo through the gate on the fence next to the parking lot (you will cross over the Zoo train tracks) – Gate A.

III. No Later than 8:10 a.m.~Meet in uniform at 8:10 a.m. at the Picnic Grove to lineup for the parade. Attendance will be taken there.

a.  Be sure to dress in warm clothing. Twirl-M’s with a Twirl-M’s sweat suit, should wear the sweat suit. If you do not have one, wear some type of sweat pants and jacket that can be easily removed for the parade. Wear layers in case it is cold.

b.  Shortly thereafter, we line up for the parade, which begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.

c.  The parade/ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 8:30 a.m.

Family Members and Guests:

We are pleased to have you watch your twirler perform. The students will be

marching from the front of the zoo to a portion along the back. If you wish to follow us, please remain near the back of the group and not the sides. That way our twirlers can be seen and be the “stars” of the show. Check out your twirler with Miss Holly or Miss Rachel at dismissal time.

What to wear:

Twirl-M’s costume…purple and black, hair in bun with scrunchy, tan hose #72 (light toast) Danskin, tan shoes and no earrings. Wear coats and/or sweat suit. We will stay bundled until the very end!!

Banner Carrier: Anyone have a sibling or friend coming that would want to hold the

banner? Let me know.

Lost or Issues: On the day of the event, if you get lost or have any trouble meeting at
