Daily Warm Up Activities:
Session 1:
Whole Class:
Explain to the chn that Santa needs some chn to help him and would like us to set up a class grotto. TP What is a grotto? Ask questions to develop understanding. (Who, what, when, how questions.) Display a picture of a grotto on SB. What can we see? Chn discuss. Explain to the chn that we are going to make a mind map about what we need to set up a grotto. Explain what a mind map is. Together think of what we need and create mind map.
Focused Group Activities:
Take a group of chn at a time to look for resources to set up grotto.
Children to make their own mind map.
HA Draw their own pictures and sound out words. Lucy whole word. Chloe and Oli initial and some dominant sounds. Chloe to use alphabet strip. Rest of group initial sounds.
MA Draw pictures and use CIP
LA Cut out pictures and stick on.
