All of our work in landscaping has really shown its color this fall and early winter. Many thanks still to Diane and Brian McMahon for their planning and work.

Holidays and Arrival of the New Year in OC:

The Winterfest of Lights was one of the best (and best attended) in years.

Items Owners Need to Check Often in their Units:

1 .Main Water Valve-check for leaks and, if not done already, replace with brass ball valve.

2. Snake condensate lines for A/C.

3 .Check air filters on a regular basis.

4. Check A/C disconnect switch for corrosion.

5. Check washing machine hoses for wear.

6. Check hot water heater for leaks,

7. Check toilets/faucets, shower heads for drips/leaks.

8. Check areas around sliders/windows for excess moisture/leaks.

9. If downstairs, check ceiling regard possible leaks from above.

10. Mark your heat pump with your unit number

11. Be sure to turn off water and water heater when no one is staying in the unit.

12. Keep your thermostat in the winter set at 55 degrees.

All of these items are very important to keep watch on as our buildings are aging and owners need to be diligent watching for probable causes of leaks.

Fenwick Island History:

The closest item to WW that has a unique history is the Fenwick Lighthouse. Fenwick Island is a barrier island that lies south of DE and into Md. In the mid-19th century, many shipwrecks were occurring along the Fenwick Shoals. This prompted the building of the lighthouse which was placed on the highest point of land just feet from the Transpeninsular Marker which defines the state line .The land and lighthouse and keeper’s cottage cost $23,749 in 1859!! IN 1856, Congress authorized $25,000 for this establishment. On Jan 11, 1858 the US paid $50 for the 10 acres of land .The station was completed and the 3rd order L burned whale oil. The 87 foot tower has an unusual design in that the outer brick tower is conical, while a second inner brick tower is an 8 foot diameter cylinder.

Lighthouse and Keeper’s cottage

Wonder how many owners have actually seen all of these signs????

Thanks go to Rob Lewis for almost all of our photography! Rob, your help is greatly appreciated.
