H.R. No. 346

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The Panther Creek High School Panthers have attained the highest plateau in their quest for excellence, winning the 1992 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Conference A sixman football title; and

WHEREAS, After sweeping through District 11 with a perfect 50 record, Panther Creek met May in bidistrict competition, posting a 5939 victory; and

WHEREAS, With the area championship at stake, the Panthers cruised by Rochester 5220, to take the area title and continue their march through the playoffs; and

WHEREAS, Although both teams lit up the scoreboard, Panther Creek prevailed over a fine Cherokee team in a dramatic 7068 thriller to advance to the semifinal playoff round; and

WHEREAS, In a textbook example of gridiron excellence, the Panthers dominated Christoval both offensively and defensively on the way to a convincing 5812 win and earned a coveted spot in the finals; and

WHEREAS, Culminating a dream that had been built on total effort and team spirit, Panther Creek stormed past Fort Hancock 5426, claiming the championship crown and ending the season with an impressive record of 14 wins against only one defeat; and

WHEREAS, The season's outstanding achievements were a result of tireless dedication throughout the year from team members Chad Bolton, Cory Crye, Paul Risse, Todd Harris, Michael Loyd, Dan Risse, Monty Bouldin, Chad Christmas, Chad Humphries, Clayton Hinds, Heath Wilson, Kevin Hale, Shay Avants, Cody Cope, Dustin Beard, Jason Jones, Kenneth Kennedy, Jason Copeland, Seth Luker, Noel Simpson, Wes Ward, Chris Brown, Richmond Slate, Shannon Williams, Randy Griffin, Richard Lutz, Justin Hale, and James Adian; and

WHEREAS, Although each team member made significant contributions to the Panthers' success, several players also attained individual honors; Todd Harris, Monty Bouldin, James Adian, and Dustin Beard won first team AllState honors, Chad Bolton was second team AllState, and Chad Humphries was an honorable mention AllState selection; and

WHEREAS, The team's exemplary coaching staff of Alan Luker, Doyle Clawson, and Jerry Christmas provided unwavering guidance and tireless support to their athletes, and their considerable efforts helped transform a dream into a championship crown; and

WHEREAS, This exceptional group of young men, along with their coaches and staff, have been a tremendous source of pride to the students and faculty of Panther Creek High School and their many supporters in the community, and their exceptional achievements have rightfully earned them special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the Panther Creek High School Panthers and their coaching staff on their superb 1992 gridiron campaign and UIL Conference A sixman football championship; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared for the members of the team and coaching staff and that a copy be prepared for prominent display at Panther Creek High School as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
