H.R. No. 405

R E S O L U T I O N

WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Robert Cauthorn, Jr., were greatly saddened by his passing on October 27, 1997, and we join them in paying tribute to his life and work; and

WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mr.Cauthorn was born November 29, 1914, in Snyder, to Robert and Virginia Justice Cauthorn, and made his home in the Lone Star State throughout his long and successful career as a rancher; and

WHEREAS, He drew great joy and inspiration from his wife of 62 years, Alice Overstreet Cauthorn; theirs was a relationship that continued to grow in mutual respect, affection, and admiration until his passing, and they took pride in their large and loving family; and

WHEREAS, A vital and valued member of the community, Mr.Cauthorn lent his time and energies to a number of worthwhile endeavors, serving as a Val Verde County commissioner and as a member of the Del Rio and Juno school boards; in addition, he was a director of the Val Verde County Race Association; and

WHEREAS, His financial acumen was instrumental in the success of a number of businesses, and he served as director of the Del Rio TV Cable Company and the president of the CocaCola Bottling Company of Del Rio and San Marcos as well as serving as vice president and director of Texas Osage Royalty Pool, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Over the course of his lifetime, Robert Cauthorn, Jr., distinguished himself as a businessman of ability and integrity, an integral asset to his community, and a devoted family man; though he will be greatly missed, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all those fortunate enough to have known him; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 76th Texas Legislature hereby honor the memory of Robert Cauthorn, Jr., and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his wife, Alice Overstreet Cauthorn, to his daughter and soninlaw, Junior and Ed Esquivel; to his sons and daughtersinlaw, Jim and Ann Cauthorn and Bill and Kay Cauthorn; to his grandchildren and their spouses, James and Jenny Esquivel, Sandi Esquivel, Audrey and John Schmit, Todd Cauthorn, Kate Cauthorn, Sid and Kim Cauthorn, and Guy and Keri Cauthorn; to his greatgrandchildren, Drew and Sidney Cauthorn and Abb and Hattie Cauthorn; to his brother, Virgil Cauthorn; to his cousins, Mac Ward, Ora Riggs, Blanche Smith, and Jim Bob Altizer; and to his other relatives; and, be it further

RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Robert Cauthorn, Jr.
