Inthe state ofWashington,every driver(except thosewithCommercial Driver’sLicenses–CDL)isentitled toDeferredFindingevery sevenyears; oneforamovingviolation and oneforanon-movingviolation.Youmustpayanadministrativefee of$210andcannot getanyothertickets ofanykindforoneyear fromthedateyouenter theDeferred. Ifyou aresuccessful, yourticket isdismissedattheendoftheyearperiod,and thecourtdoesnot report theviolation tothe Department ofLicensing(DOL).
However,ifyouDOgetanother ticketduringthat year,yourDeferredwill be revoked,youwillhave to paythe$210plustheoriginalfine, andtheticketdoesget reported to DOL. You must make this request in a courtroom environment, only a Judge can grant this option.

Therearethreetypesof handicapcitationsthatcan be issued:
1)Parkingin theaccessaisle. Youarenotpermitted toparkinthe stripedareasaroundahandicapparkingspace.Thatareaisreserved toprovideroom togeta wheelchairor othermobilitydevice in and outofthe vehicle.Novehicle is permittedto parkanywherewithin thestripes. 2)Unauthorizeduseofplacard.Theonlypersonpermittedto usethe placardarethe persontowhomthe placard wasissued orthedriverof thatperson.The handicapped person MUSTbepresenttolegallyuse theparkingspace. Youmay NOT usethe parkingspaceifyouarerunningan errandfor thatperson. Ifyouwerecitedfor that,youmust requestahearing, request a payplan,or paythefine.
3)Parkingin a handicapspacewithoutdisplayingplacard. Ifyousimplyforgot to displayyourplacard,orifthe placardfelloutofview,etc.,youmay have the citationdismissed.
