When God Wipes Away The Tears

When God Wipes Away The Tears

(Revelation 21:4 KJV)

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

M

an is the only created being who can laugh. And he is the only one who can shed tears in the sense of expressing emotions. The chemist will tell us that a tear is a solution of sodium chloride and calcium along with a few other chemicals to make up the solution. Moreover, I would venture to say that, "tears are important for the each of us."

There are some who would encourage usto believe that tears are a sign of human weakness and fearfulness. In my opinion, tears have far more to do with the soul than they do with the body. If the truth is told, many of our tears are overly dispatched from inward pain that cuts the soul than those that afflict the body. So, as we look closely at the text; let us dissect the tears of the bible and compare them to every life experiences. Here are some of the tears I would like to take an in-depth look at:

  1. The Tears Of Joy:

I'm reminded of Joseph when he wept on three different occasions in the bible. The first, was weeping in sympathy for his father. The second was weeping in sympathy for the trouble his ten brothers had brought upon themselves for putting him in a pit. And the third time, his weeping was because of the fullness of his feelings of tenderness toward his brother, Benjamin when he saw him twenty three years later in Egypt, after his own brothers betrayed him, put him down in a pit and then sold him to the Ishmaelites which were his distanced relatives.

Joseph was overpowered by feelings of tenderness after reveling himself in Egypt unto his ten brothers. There was a famine in the land. They were hungry and had to get to Egypt to find some substance for the family. While there in Egypt, Joseph was the Prime Minister, but despite his position he had compassion upon the very family members who put him in harm's way. Joseph although he wept on many occasions, he had to go from the pit to the palace.Instead of Joseph confronting his past; Joseph consulted his future with the tears of joy. Joseph was a type of Christ whereby his own family and enemies would have to bow before him in Egypt.(Genesis 45)

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:9-11)

Joseph’s brothers had been careful for over twenty years. All ten of them knew it, and not one of them had breathed a word to their father about what really happened to Joseph, so a day of judgment was coming, and they had to confess. The Day of Judgment is coming for you and me, and when the final judgment comes, it will be too late to confess. You will have either already confessed, or it will be too late to make the defaulted past right.
