Whatever Your Hand Finds to Do, Do with Your Might Ecclesiastes 9:10

St. John’s Messenger
Volume 92, Issue 9 May 2, 2012

From The Pastor

Part One

1 Corinthians 3:9 tells us: “For we are God’s servants, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building”.

When you are called upon to do some project or some work for the church, do you see yourself as God’s servant working for Him? When we don’t, we are usually heard grumbling or complaining. When we know we are doing it for the LORD, we would not dare grumble or complain, for a servant of the Lord would not even consider doing such a thing because our concentration is on God. Therefore, we do it as part of our worship of God. A worshipping child of God would never grumble or complain or cause dissension because of the task. The person for whom their worship of God does not control their work on the task can find it a burden which gives them no happiness, and thus they see it as an intrusion, or an affliction, And that will guide their attitude and demeanor in carrying out the task. When we accept that we are God’s field, God’s building, anything that God wants, or calls on us to do in His name, for His family, His church will be a blessing, and the word blessing means “Happiness”. So, if you are happy in what you are doing for the Lord, then you are truly doing it for the Lord as one of His servants working willingly with all His other servants. Some other passages to keep in mind when we are working for God

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do with your might…” Ecclesiastes 9:10

“One who is slack in work is close kin to a vandal.” Proverbs 18:9

“Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3

Part Two

Our Synod Assembly is June 15 and 16, 2012. We have several worship services as part of the Assembly and those worship services each have a Service Choir. If you like to sing and would like to participate, we have the forms you need to fill out and mail in the Church office. Just contact Sue at 570 -473-3770.

They have some very interesting music planned for the USS Synod Assembly Choir. Paul Tschesnokoff's "Salvation Is Created" is Friday's anthem and a choral version of "Rise, Shine You People" by Dale Wood for Saturday. The Synod Assembly and the worship are back in the Chapel this year with the organ! On Saturday the organ will be joined by brass instruments and a harp.

Part Three

Just a reminder to all the families that have a child signed up for the FIRST COMMUNION RETREAT that it is next Saturday, May 12th in Weller Park.

Part Four

It’s that time of the season to fire up the ol’ bar-b-q. We are in need of anyone knowledgeable in gas grills to take a look at our gas grill. The last time it was used we had trouble getting it hot enough to cook the food. If you could help by taking a look at it, please feel free to contact me.
