Role Description: Getting Together Volunteer

Purpose of role

The role of the Getting Together Volunteer is to provide on-the-day support for W3RT’s weekly Getting Together clubs. The Getting Together Volunteer will help support the Club staff to ensure efficient delivery of the Getting Together program of activities. The role will vary according to need but most importantly the Getting Together Volunteerwill ensure that membersreceive excellent customer service and support to engage with the five ways to wellbeing.

The role

The Getting TogetherVolunteerrole may vary but general duties will include:

  • Assisting with the setting-up and closing down of club venues. Assist with the serving refreshments as required.
  • Assist with the delivery of planned activities and events
  • Provideexcellent customer service and build positive relationships with members
  • Befriend the Getting Together members and help them to engage in program of activities
  • Share feedback from memberswith the club staffto record
  • Provide support for outside trips and celebration events

The Getting Together Volunteerwill demonstrate:

The time commitment

We ask that Getting Together Volunteersare able to commit a minimum of one day per week on a regular basis.

Location

W3RT delivers a number of weekly Getting Together clubs and where possible we will work with volunteers to match them to the club that is nearest to them or that meets other requirements that they may have.

Training & induction

All volunteers are required to undertake training as part of their induction programme. This will include areas such as Safeguarding. All volunteers will be offered the opportunity to attend other staff training.

Training will take place on dates and times to be agreed in advance.

Supervision and supportThe Getting Together volunteerswill report to the Club & Activity coordinator and will be supervised by the club activity facilitators. Informal ’one-to-one’ support meetings will then take place at least once per year

and will be in addition to the regular contact and communication that is ongoing between the supervisor and volunteer.

A Disclosure and Barring Service checkand references

The role of Getting Together Volunteers may be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS check). If this is the case, satisfactory DBS clearance will be required before an individual is formally invited to take up the volunteering opportunity.
