WHAT WE TEACH AND WHY
The Bible is the verbally inspired word of God
(Exodus 4:12; 15; 20:1; Deuteronomy 18:18-20; II Samuel 23:1-2; Jeremiah 1:9; Ezekiel 2:7; 3:4; 10; Isaiah 1:10; 51:16; Matthew 10:16-20; Luke 21:12-15; I Corinthians 2:10-13; II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:19-21; Revelation 19:9).
That Jesus is the Son of God
1. Identified from heaven by the Father (Matthew 3:17; 17:5; John 12:28).
2. John declared that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God (John 1:14; 18; 3:16; 18;
John 4:9).
3. Believing that Jesus is the Son of God is vital to our salvation (I John 4:15; 5:5; John
8:24).
The Deity and the humanity of Christ
1. The Deity of Christ (John 1:1-3; Philippians 2:5-6; Hebrews 1:3).
2. The humanity of Christ (Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:26-35; Galatians 4:4; John 1:14;
Philippians 2:7-8).
3. To deny His Deity or His humanity is being an anti-Christ (I John 2:18;
22; 4:3; II John 7).
That the mission of Christ was complete and successful
1. Jesus came to bring the truth (John 1:17).
2. He came to show us the Father (John 1:18; 14:8-9).
3. He came to be the Saviour the world so desperately needed (Luke 2:11; Acts 5:31; I
John 4:14). In order to be the Saviour – Jesus had to die for our sins (Zechariah 13:1;
Matthew 26:28; I Peter 3:18; II Corinthians 5:21). There is only one Saviour (John
14:6; Acts 4:12).
4. Jesus removed the Old Covenant that He might establish a New Covenant - intended
for all men for all time (Matthew 5:17-18; Ephesians 2:12-16; Romans 7:1-4; Hebrews
8:6-13; 9:16-17).
5. Jesus established the church (kingdom) by design, not by accident (Ephesians 3:10-
11). Further, we believe and teach that the church and the kingdom are one and the
same institution. The following points can be used individually or collectively to prove
that to be true:
a. Daniel 2:36-45; Matthew 3:2; 4:17; Deuteronomy 18:22
b. Mark 9:1; Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8; 2:1-4.
c. Matthew 16:18-19; Colossians 1:13; Revelation 1:9; Hebrews 12:28.
I) Moreover, Jesus is reigning as king over His kingdom, and has been since He
ascended into Heaven (Acts 1:9-11; Daniel 7:13-14; Psalms 89:35-37; Revelation
17:14). See (Luke 1:30-33; Acts 2:30; Romans 15:12; I Corinthians 15:24-26).
II) Then again, no accountable person is saved outside the church:
1. Reconciliation unto God is in the church (Ephesians 2:12-16).
2. The blood of Jesus went to purchase the church (Acts 20:28).
3. All the saved are added to the church (Acts 2:47).
4. Jesus is the Saviour of the (church) body (Ephesians 1:22-23; 23)
5. There is one church (Ephesians 1:22-23; 4:4; Colossians 1:18).
That every person possesses an everlasting soul
(Genesis 1:26; 2:7; Ecclesiastes 12:7; Zechariah 12:1; Jeremiah 1:5; Matthew 16:26; James 2:26).
That there is a judgment day coming
(Acts 17:30-31; Luke 19:14-27; Romans 14:12; II Corinthians 5:10; I Thessalonians 5:1-10; John 5:28-29; Matthew 25:31-46).
Heaven – hell and Hades are real places
1. Hades: the unseen realm of the dead. A waiting place for the righteous and the wicked
(Luke 16:19-31).
2. Heaven: Described so beautifully in Revelation 21:1-7; 22:1-7, it is the Father’s house
(John 14:1-3). The faithful can rest there (Revelation 14:13). No wonder the Bible tells
us to put our treasure and affection in heaven (Matthew 6:19-21; Colossians 3:1-2).
3. Hell: Described in terms that ought to create dread in every soul (Mark 9:43; 45; 47;
Revelation 14:11; 20:15).
God does not want a single soul lost
(Ezekiel 33:11; I Timothy 2:4; II Peter 3:9; John 3:16; Matthew 11:28-30).
There is a divine plan of Salvation
1. One must hear the word of God (Jeremiah 22:29; Romans 10:17).
2. Believe the gospel (Mark 16:15-16).
3. Repent of past sins (Acts 17:30; Luke 13:3; 5).
4. Confess Christ before men (Matthew 10:32-33; Romans 10:10).
5. Be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16; Romans 6:3-5; I Peter 3:21).
6. Faithfully serve Him unto your life is no more (Revelation 2:10).
Man has a free will
(Leviticus 1:3; Deuteronomy 30: 15; 19; Joshua 24:15; John 6:66-68; Acts 26:28).
There is a cost of discipleship
(Luke 14:25-33; Matthew 16:24-26).
The acts of Christian worship are legislated by Christ
(John 4:23-24; John 17:17; Colossians 3:17).
1. Prayer: (Acts 2:42; I Timothy 2:8; I Corinthians 14:15-16).
2. The Lord’s supper: (Matthew 26:26-28; I Corinthians 11:23-29; Acts 20:7).
3. Singing: (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16; Hebrews 2:12).
4. Giving: (I Corinthians 16:1-2; II Corinthians 9:6-9).
5. Preaching: (Acts 20:7; I Corinthians 4:17; II Timothy 4:2).
There is a behavior that is unacceptable in the church
(I Timothy 3:15)
(Matthew 18:15-17; Romans 16:17-18; I Corinthians 5:1-13; Ephesians 5:3-5; II Thessalonians 3:6; Titus 3:10-11).
