About this information sheet

This information sheet provides guidance for Carer Recorders (approved users of the Carer Register) on how to access the Carer Register when they are unable to remember their User Sign In IDand/or password.

Access to the Carer register

The Department of Health and Human services (the department) provides registered out-of-home care service providers with reasonable access to the Carer Register to enable them to meet legislative and department requirements.

Registered out-of-home care service providers nominate staff, known as ‘Carer Recorders’, to access the Carer Register on behalf of their organisation.

Logging on to the Carer Register

To open the Carer Register, the following URL needs to be entered into your internet browser

you have opened the Carer Register login page (shown below in Figure 1) it is recommended that you save this in your web browser favourites.

To log in to the Carer Register, enter your User Sign In ID and password then click the Sign In button as shown in Figure 1. It is recommended that you tick the ‘Remember my user ID’ box so that the next time you log in your user name will be populated automatically.

For privacy reasons Carer Recorders must not share their User Sign In ID or password with anyone else.

Your User Sign In ID will always be in the format of DHS-6/your agency email address.

I forgot my User Sign In ID function

If you are still unable to recall your User Sign In ID:

  1. Click on the ‘Can’t access your account?’ link on the Carer Register Log In page as circled above in Figure 1. The ‘Select an Option’ page will appear as shown in Figure 2.
  2. Click onthe ‘I forgot my User Sign In ID’ link as circled in Figure 2 below.

The ‘Forgot Your User Sign In ID?’ page will appear as shown in Figure 3 below.

  1. Enter the email address associated with your User Sign In ID and click ‘Go’.
  2. A confirmation screen will appear confirming that your User Sign In ID has been emailed to you as shown in Figure 4. Access the email to obtain your User Sign In ID.

I don’t know my password

If you incorrectly enter your password three times, you will be locked out of the Carer Register for 10 -15 minutes. If you cannot remember your password you will need to:

  1. Click on the ‘Can’t access your account?’ link on the Carer Register Log In page as circled below in Figure 5. The ‘Select an Option’ page will appear as shown in Figure 6.

  1. Click on the ‘I forgot my password’ link as circled in Figure 6 below. The ‘Forgot Your Password’ page will appear as shown in Figure 7 below.

  1. Enter your User Sign In ID into the appropriate field on the ‘Forgot your Password?’ page as shown above in Figure 7. Enter your User Sign In ID in the following formatDHS-6/your email address

Clickon the Go button and a confirmation screen will appear advisingthat an email has been sent with instructions to reset your password (shown below in Figure 8).

  1. Follow the directions in the email sent to you to reset your password (see Figure 9). The link to reset your password will expire in 5 days.

  1. Answer the security questions when prompted as shown in Figure 10 below. This question will be different for each Carer Recorder depending on what security questions you originally chose. Click on the Submit button.

  1. When presented with the Password Update screen, enter your new password in the New Password and Verify New Password fields as shown in red in Figure 11 below and click the save button.You will then be logged into the Carer Register.
