Junior Reminders:
College-bound students
You should register for the PSAT on Wednesday, October 11th at LTHS. The
test begins immediately following homeroom. Administration time is
approximately 3 hours. Cost is $16.00. Registration Deadline is October 5th.

Fee waivers for both SAT and ACT

*If you receive free or reduced lunch, you are eligible to register for the PSAT at no cost. You also are eligible for two waivers in total for both the SAT and ACT. So, if you haven’t used one or both fee waivers, make sure the utilize them when registering.

Lackawanna County College Fair

*The college fair will be held at Marywood University on Wednesday, October 11th at their Center for Athletics and Wellness. The program affords all college and technical bound juniors and seniors the opportunity to meet admissions representatives from approximately 70 high education institutions. The program begins at 7:00 pm.

Dual Enrollment
We will be visiting dual-enrollment eligible classes next week to begin registration for Keystone College. If you have questions, please let us assist in determining
whether or not this option will benefit you. Applications for the Community
Foundation Scholarships to cover the tuition of these courses are now available.
Deadline for submission is October 1, 2017.

On-Campus College Coursework
Any junior interested in exploring options for college coursework at a local
college should schedule an appointment with his or her school counselor to discuss this option.
Geisinger Community Medical Center - School to Career Program
Applications are currently being accepted for the Fall Internship program. Students will
visit the hospital on Thursday of each week from October until November/early
December. Students will explore different areas of the hospital to explore healthcare
Careers. They will visit the ER, OR, nursing & patient areas, lab/pharmacy, radiology,
PT/home health, facilities, and administration. It is a great way for students to get
volunteer hours that are required for admission consideration into many healthcare
Programs.

College Open Houses
Most colleges and universities have “Open Houses” one or two weekends in the Fall and
Spring. These dates are opportunities to get a first look at a college campus. Typically,
you can get a campus tour, meet with faculty, coaches, and staff, attend a financial aid
presentation, and learn about special programs and opportunities. Visit the admissions
office page of the school or schools you are interested in exploring to learn more about
these dates.
