WHAT TEENS NEED TO SUCCEED

Chart a positive and spiritually based course in life that makes for good decision making and strong positive relationships. This workshop teaches a spiritual formation process built around the familiar ‘Seven Habits’. Developing a personal faith mission statement and learning to manage personal and relational bank accounts are part of this workshop.

Review of the ‘7 Habits’ and parallel study of the Biblical principles they embody.

I will intentionally use ‘7 Habits’ language and examples.

  1. Be proactive.
  2. Begin with the end in mind.
  3. Put first things first.
  4. Think win-win.
  5. Seek first to understand, then to be understood.
  6. Synergize.
  7. Sharpen the saw.

Signs of a Poor PBA:Cave in to peer pressure easily

Depression and inferiority

Overly concerned about what others think

Act arrogant to hide insecurities

Self-destructive:

drugs, pornography, vandalism, gangs

Easily jealous

Develop a healthy sense of self confidence / value – strengthening esteem.

BACKGROUND:Avoid win-lose, lose-win, lose-lose

APPLICATION(S):the basketball duo/ avoid competing & comparing

This will be hard. Win the private victory first.

  • HABIT #5 – SEEK FIRST TO UNDERSTAND, THEN TO BE UNDERSTOOD

BACKGROUND:We all have an intense need to be heard and understood.
