What’s New?-Family Health Initiative Programme

Exciting News...Carntall Primary School and Early Years - the organisation for young children are rolling out a new FREE exciting healthy lifestyle programme for families who would like to be healthier. This programme aims to help families make healthier choices looking at healthy eating and physical activity. A separate flyer will be sent out with more details regarding this exciting new initiative. This programme is open to families who aren’t in attendance at Carntall, so please feel free to spread the word!

Eco Focus-River Blackwater Catchment Trust.

The River Blackwater Catchment Trust offered the opportunity for 3 schools to set up a local ‘River Watch Group’ and Carntall have been successfully selected as one of them. The programme began on Tuesday 31st January, with an exciting trip to the Ballinderry Fishery and River School and we look forward to participating in a wide range of ‘river based’ outdoor activities throughout the rest of the school year.

Tri County Sports

The Carntall football team will participate in the second leg of the Tri County Football league, on Friday 10th February, in Dungannon. Children receive their snack as normal and will be back in time for dinner.

School Council-‘Sweet Treat’ Fundraiser

During January, the School Council represented the children’s views in relation to what improvements they’d like to see in our school. They agreed upon two areas for development; 1: Purchasing some new playground equipment and 2: Getting a new school sign to replace the old white lettering on the stone wall.

In order to achieve their goals, they have been busy devising some ideas forfundraising and as their first venture they are organising a ‘Sweet Treat’ sale in Fivemiletown College on Thursday 9th February and then in Carntall on Friday 10th February.

I am aware that the School Council have already issued a letter asking for support and so we would be very grateful if you could support our pupils as they work towards achieving their goals.
