Objectives: SWBAT begin to learn what ethos, logos, & pathosby seeing them in commercials, ads, and political speeches. Analyze the language used by the “experts” in order to begin to understand how to use them in their own persuasive essays.
Review grammar issues and create sentences using what they just learned in a group setting.

- Got Milk? Ads – group activity: Think of a product about which you would see a commercial.
- Find that commercial on youtube
- Explain the example of ETHOS, LOGOS, PATHOS you see in that commercial
- Share with the class in 10 minutes.
- Hand in one sheet of paper with all of your group’s names on it with your explanation and examples.
- Students show and explain the examples of ethos, logos and pathos

- Discussions from annotated article with critical thinking questions
- Share prepared annotations (with summaries and questions) with group. One question per person (critical thinking question only!) and group has a discussion using the Question Stems Towers.
- After the 10 minute discussion is completed, the group chooses their favorite question to share with the class and a whole class discussion is created.
