WHAT IS GMAT GENERAL TEST?
TheGMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) exam is a standardized assessment,delivered in English that helps business schools assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced study in business and management.
WHO TAKES THE GMAT AND WHY?
Prospective graduate applicants to business schools take the GMAT. GMAT scores are used by admissions or fellowship panels to supplement undergraduate records and other qualifications for graduate study in a business school. The scores provide common measures for comparing the qualifications of applicants and aid in evaluating grades and recommendations.

Graduate Management Admissions Council (GMAC®).
Who Accepts It?
Any accredited graduate business school (MBA program), or business administration department or division within a school, may require or recommend that its applicants take the GMAT.
HOW CAN I REGISTER FOR THE TEST?
There are four ways you can register for the GMAT:

After the registration is processed the admission ticket/registration number is sent to you.
WHAT IS A TEST FEE?
The test fee for the GMAT is 250 USD (as of 2009).

WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE OF THE TEST?
The GMAT consists of four separately timed sections.

WHAT IS THE COMPUTER ADAPTIVE FORMAT?
Each of the first two sections consists of an analytical writing task; the remaining two sections (Quantitative and Verbal) consist of multiple-choice questions delivered in a computer-adaptive format. Questions in these sections are dynamically selected as you take the test; the multiple-choice questions will adjust to your ability level, and your test will be unique.
WHAT IS THE TESTING TIME?
Total testing time for the GMAT is up to 4 hours (including optional breaks).
HOW SCORES ARE DETERMINED?
Your score is determined by:
- the number of questions you answer,
- whether you answer the questions correctly or incorrectly, and
- the level of difficulty and other statistical characteristics of each question.
The questions in an adaptive test are weighted according to their difficulty and other statistical properties, not according to their position in the test.
HOW SCORES ARE REPORTED?
Total GMAT scores range from 200 to 800. Two-thirds of test takers score between 400 and 600. GMAT scores are valid for 5 years.
The Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) score is an average of the ratings given to the Analysis of an Issue and the Analysis of an Argument sections. Each response is given two independent ratings. Once both essays have been scored, the scores are averaged to provide an overall score. Scores for the AWA range from 0 to 6 in half-point intervals.

WHAT TO BRING ON THE TEST DAY?
You must bring valid identification and your admission ticket on test day. You cannot take a test without them.
Valid official ID with your name, signature and photograph must have:
a) the same name you used when you registered;
b) your entire first/given name and entire last/family name;
c) a clear, recent photo;
d) The names of the GMAT programs to which you would like to send your GMAT scores.
Your registration number – you will get this number when you register. Log in to your online profile, print your registration confirmation with the number on it and bring it to the test center.
IMPORTANT:
· Register early to get your preferred test date.
· Please, arrive at least 30 minutes early. If you are late you may not get in and could loose your test fee.
· Testing premises are subject to videotaping.
· Raise you hand if you need assistance, have a problem with your computer or need to leave your seat for any reason.
· ID documents are the ONLY personal items allowed in the testing room. You cannot bring cell phones, PDAs, BlackBerry® devices or any other electronic or photographic equipment. You will receive instructions on where to put personal items.
· During the test you may pace yourself with your own watch, but the computer is the official timekeeper (alarms are not permitted).
· You will NOT be permitted to test beyond the time limit.
· Calculators are NOT permitted in the test room.
· Pens or any other writing utensils are NOT permitted
· The administrator will provide you with a booklet of five (5) noteboards at the start of the test.
· Bring three or four sharpened soft-lead (No. 2 or HB) pencils and a good eraser (Pencils and erasers will not be supplied at the test center.) Mechanical pencils and pensare not permitted.
