ENTRIES

·The entry fee will be shared by each association. The OFSAA Entry fee will be included.

·Toronto Northeast and Toronto Southwest will be permitted to enter seven competitors in each event for the Metro Meet.

·CISAA will be permitted to enter 4 competitors in each event for the Metro Meet.

·TDCAA will be permitted to enter 6 competitors in each event for the Metro Meet.

·Computer entries will be due Friday, May 25th. Please make arrangements with Al Baigent at (416) 694-1789 for delivery.

·All scratches and substitutions for the Metro meet must be emailed to Al Baigent () no later than Monday, May 28th at 12:00pm.

·Seed times must be those attained at Association Championships.

·A competitor may be entered in three individual events in the same age class or open class. In addition, a competitor may enter one open relay and one age class relay provided he/she is not over age for the age relay in which he/she is competing.

·A school is permitted to enter only one relay team per division.

·For relay teams that qualify for OFSAA (top 4 at Metros) you may submit six names for each relay. At OFSAA, awards will only be presented to five athletes, not six.

·All scratches from the Metro Meet need to be submitted to Al Baigent by Friday, June 1st at 6:00pm.

·All Para Athletes must compete in an association meet prior to competing at the Metro Championships.

AGE ELIGIBILITY

For 2017 - 2018

NOVICE – Athlete must be born in 2003 or later and be in their first year of high school (grade 9).

JUNIOR – Refer to chart above.

SENIOR – Athlete is eligible for five (5) years from the time he/she enters Grade Nine. For 2017-

2018,an athlete who entered grade nine before September 2013 is INELIGIBLE to

compete in this year’s track season. There is no appeal. They must also meet the age

qualification listed in the chart above.

CLARIFICATION- RELAY ENTRY

“ A competitor may enter any three individual events in the same age class or open class . In addition, a competitor may enter one open relay and one age - class relay provided he / she is not over - age for the age class relay in which he/she is competing.”

EXAMPLES:

1 ) A Junior athlete may compete in the junior or senior relays regardless of the division which he/she competes in their individual events i.e. a Junior competing in Senior individual events may compete in either a Junior or Senior relay.

2 ) A novice athlete may compete in a novice or junior or senior relay regardless of the division which he/she competes in individual events i.e. a novice competing in Junior or Senior individual events may compete in one relay at any level .

All Pole Vault events will take place on the first day (Tuesday, May 29th) at St. Andrew’s. See event schedule for time and order for Pole Vault. If Pole Vault must be cancelled or stopped on the first day for any reason, the convenors will decide on an alternate date if necessary (alternate date is June 1st. Location TBD).

HEATS & FINALS

●Heats are scheduled for: 100m, 200m, 400m, Sprint Hurdles, and 400m relays.

●There will be three heats (8 per heat) for each event.

●All heats will be run as scheduled regardless of numbers.

●Qualification from heats to finals are as follows: First two in each heat and the next two fastest times.

●The 800m, 1500m, 3000m, Steeplechase, Intermediate Hurdles, and the 4 x 400m relay will be run as Timed Section Finals with the fastest heat run last.

●The 800m event will be run as a time section final. There will be three heats (8 athletes in each heat). If there are less than 24 runners entered in the event, the 8 fastest will still be in the fast section. Each runner will be assigned their own lane. Slow heats run first, followed by the fast heat.

●The 1500m and Steeplechase will use a waterfall start (slow heat/fast heat).

●The 3000m will use a two alley start (⅓; ⅔ split).

FALSE START RULE

●First false start charged to the field; additional false starts against the offending athlete(s).

STARTING BLOCKS

●An athlete is not required to use starting blocks.

●For all laned races, athletes not using blocks must be in a four point stance.

OFSAA QUALIFICATION

●The first four competitors in each event will be automatically entered into the OFSAA Championship. It will be the competitor’s coach’s responsibility to inform Al Baigent of any scratches before Friday, June 1st at 6:00pm. After all the breaking procedures have been exhausted, a jump off between tied competitors for a fourth OFSAA position will be used.

REGIONAL AWARDS

●A plaque will be presented to the winning school in each division.

●A plaque will be presented to the winning school in each para division.

●Separate awards will be presented to para male and female athletes.

●Open 4 x 400 relay and Open Steeplechase points will be combined into the Senior age group divisions.

●Para athletes points will not contribute to overall team scores.

UNIFORMS

●All competitors must wear official school jerseys.

●All relay teams must wear identical school jerseys. Names on the back of school jerseys are permitted however all athletes must have a name on the back of their jersey.

CONDUCT

●The conduct of all competitors will be closely observed. Any competitor violating the conduct code is subject to immediate disqualification (swearing, abuse of an official, obscene gestures, throwing a relay baton).

PROTESTS & JURY OF APPEAL

●Protesting an event or decisions is a coach’s right. Kindly request a protest form from the meet director. Submit the completed form accompanied by $50 to the Meet Director (Glenn Duncan or Jason Wood) within ½ hour of the announcing of the result and the posted result. If the protest is upheld the $50 protest fee will be returned. The decision of the Jury of Appeal is final. Coaches will not be permitted to express their point of view to the jury.

MARSHALLING AREA

●All track competitors must check themselves in at the Marshalling Area (North Stands).

●All field competitors may report directly to their field event.

●Track events take precedence over field events (order of precedence equals: track, high jump, other field events). Athletes competing in a track event and field event at the same time must check in at the Marshalling Area first before proceeding to their field event.

●Only officials and competing athletes are permitted on the infield.

300M HURDLE SPECIFICATIONS

●In this race there are seven hurdles.

●The starting area will be the center line of the first relay exchange zone.

●The distance between hurdles will be the same as the 400m Hurdles.

●The 300m Hurdles race will be conducted as the last 7 hurdles of the 400m Hurdles.

●Starting heights will be determined at the discretion of the Pole Vault Official.

INCREMENTS WILL BE 10 CMS. UNTIL 6 COMPETITORS REMAIN, AT WHICH TIME THE INCREMENT WILL BE 5 CMS.

THROWING EVENTS

●Discus, Shot Put, and Javelin events will take place outside the stadium.

●Athletes must provide their own throwing implements. That implement may be used by any competitor in that event.

●All implements must remain with the event until its conclusion.
