What is Credit Recovery?

Credit Recovery is a program designed for you to earn a semester credit for a prior class you have failed. You will be using PLATO; a computer based learning system, to accomplish this. Your computer assignments must be completed by the end of the semester for you to earn your credit.

For each lesson you must complete the tutorial, assignments, quizzes and finish with the mastery test. You must make an 80% on all quizzes or tests before you can go on to the next lesson. You cannot skip any part of an assignment. If you do, I will know because I have access to what you have completed and what your score are on each part.

You will work on PLATO a minimum of 4 days a week. Under my discretion and under the circumstances of being caught up in PLATO will you be aloud to work on outside work. Outside work may also be completed on Friday’s, which will also be an enrichment day. The enrichment day will be filled with work and activities Mrs. Hoover and I provide. Occasionally you will have class work from me, which will be part of you classroom grade.

Credit Recovery and Pride will have many similarities. Everyday you will be required to make a journal entry. It will also be known as the Bell Ringer activities. Everyday you will need to come in class, grab your journal, read the Bell Ringer activity and then make an entry in your journal about the activity. This should only take about 5 minutes. Journal entries should be around a paragraph (5 sentences).

Be aware that you will receive a Pass/Fail grade for your PLATO work and a letter grade for your work with me. You will be required to take notes in the tutorial portion of PLATO. You must present these notes at the end of a tutorial. Note taking it to your advantage. Notes may be used on homework, quizzes and the mastery test. Work for me will include: journal entries, daily planner and activities. You will receive five points a class for journal entries. In a weeks time you can accumulate 25 points. This will be about 1/3 of your class points. The other 1/3 of your point will come from having planners filled out daily. Planners that are filled out will also accumulate five points a day. The rest of your points will come from activities throughout the semester.

Just like PRIDE, you are required to keep your assignment book up to date. Your classroom teacher will be contacted regularly to track all assignments. Credit Recovery will be a lot like PRIDE on days you are not working on computers.

Please come to class with a positive attitude and ready to work. Inappropriate behavior of any kind is grounds for removal. For many of you, this will be you last chance to graduate with the rest of your class. Use the class to your advantage.
