POST: IT Engineer
SERVICE AREA:Social Enterprise – Furniture Matters

JOB PURPOSE:To be carry out and be responsible for the repair, cleaning and testing of IT equipment in line with industry standards and strict data protection protocols. This includes undertaking visual, PAT and function tests for every item; completing appropriate detailed paperwork using computerised databases; and preparing for re-distribution to local disadvantaged people
Responsibility for maintaining production, ensuring it meets legislative requirements and quality standards. This includes ensuring the safe storage and labelling of items, supervising the repair of whole appliances for re-use and the dismantling of items that cannot be repaired for recycling / re-processing – thus ensuring customer demand is met.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out the repair, cleaning and testing of IT equipment
- To be responsible for health and safety and security within the IT workshop
- To supervise volunteers in both the IT workshop and Furniture Matters warehouse
- To undertake general warehousing and distribution duties with regard to domestic electrical appliances and IT equipment, ensuring the items are appropriately coded, labelled, cleaned and stored
- To assist the White Goods Engineers with the repair and testing of domestic electrical appliances to national agreed ‘Fit for Re-use’ standards
- To use all tools and equipment appropriately, ensuring that all tools, equipment and spare parts are stored correctly
- To assist with the disposal of unsuitable appliances and IT equipment, including dismantling in readiness for recycling / reprocessing
- To help other staff ensure that the workshops and warehouse are kept clean and tide at all times
- To accurately input information into a stock control database system on a daily basis
- To undertake all required administration in relation to this post to an agreed standard, including producing regular reports, records and statistics as required
- To attend relevant training in relation to the post, e.g. manual handling, health and safety, first aid, portable appliance testing etc
- To adhere to all best practices associated with robust data protection protocols
- To carry out any other duties appropriate to this post, as necessary or as requested
