What Every Benefit-Eligible Employee Needs to Know About Open Enrollment

  1. This year open enrollment is mandatory for everyone!
  • Even if you are not electing benefits through MyMC, you must log in and waive the options.
  • Even if you are not making changes to your current benefits, you must log in and select the options you want for 2016.
  1. You need to check your dependent’s SSNs!
  • Benelogic put temporary SSNs in for some spouses and dependents. In order to correctly report to the IRS, you need to change those SSNs and put the correct ones in.Benelogic is collecting the Social Security numbers for Montgomery College. Under the Affordable Care Act, we are required to collect Social Security numbers and birthdates for all dependents covered by our medical plans. If this information is not provided to the IRS through the insurance companies, you may face a penalty from the IRS.
  • To do this:
  • When you get to the Dependent Information Screen, click the pencil icon next to each dependent/spouse.
  • The last four digits of the SSN will show up. These may be accurate, but the rest of the number will not be. To view the entire Social Security number, click in the SSN box. The Social Security number will appear and you will edit it here.
  • Even though Benelogic says that SSNs are not required if you are enrolling a child under the age of 2, they are.
  1. The Health Savings Account (HSA)
  • The Health Savings Account is only for those employees enrolled in the Cigna Choice Fund health plan, to contribute their own money pre-tax. If you are not enrolled or enrolling in this plan, you cannot contribute money to a Health Savings Account.
  • If you want to enroll in the limited flexible spending account (covers dental and vision expenses, applies to Cigna Choice Fund participants only), please enter your election in the Medical part of the flexible spending account section.
  1. Neither the Transportation Spending Account nor the Parking Spending Account can be used for your Montgomery College parking fee.
  • Transportation Spending Account is used for mass transit expenses incurred for travel to and from work only.
  • This includes rail, bus, subway, ferry and vanpooling with seating for at least 6 adults, not including the driver.
  • This does not include highway tolls.
  • A debit card must be used to purchase tickets/fare
  • Parking Spending Account is used at a mass transit lot for expenses incurred for travel to and from work only.
  • A debit card must be used to pay.
