PYRAMID PLUS Coach

The Pyramid Plus Approach and Pyramid Plus Trainer and Coach Certification includes research based theory and strategies to develop positive, productive, and effective adult relationships. Certification is an essential component of Pyramid Plus scale-up and sustainability of evidence-based, early childhood social emotional and inclusive practices. Pyramid Plus certifies trainers and coaches throughout Colorado in order to ensure high fidelity implementation of the Pyramid Plus Approach The technical assistance provided by the Pyramid Plus Center has the goal of supporting state, regional, and local Certified Coaches of the Pyramid Plus Approach for Promoting Social Emotional Competence and Inclusion of Infants and Young Children birth through five years. Every three years a Certified Trainer has the option to Re-Certify in order to maintain their Pyramid Plus Certification status.

What does the Coach Re-certification fee cover?

The$700.00 fee covers the costs involved in the Re-Certification process. Thisprocess consists ofthe review ofsubmission materials with specific feedback by a Pyramid Plus Certification Reviewer. The Re-Certification fee also includes accessing all web based Re-Certification training components and includes limited direct individualized supports from a Certification Reviewer.

Is there any Colorado funding available that might help support Pyramid Plus CoachRe- Certification?

There is currently no funding available for Re-Certification through the Pyramid Plus Center. Funds may be available through your community. Please remember that as a Certified Coach through the Pyramid Plus Center your name is placed on the Pyramid Plus website (pyramidplus.org) and programs and communities looking for a Certified Coach may contract with you.

Will the Coach Re-Certification improve my coaching practices?

Yes. The Pyramid Plus Coaching Circuit is an ongoing, activity-based, skill-focused approach for full implementation of Pyramid Plus practices. Pyramid Plus Coaches focuson the “what”(Pyramid Plus Approach content), as well as the “how” (coaching that utilizes evidence based coaching skills and coaching activities which the Pyramid Plus Center has synthesized into a coaching model). The Coach Circuit Rubric is used to reviewcoach skills. The Re-Certification process is designed to ensure that Coaches are focused on supporting fidelity implementation of Pyramid Plus practices for social emotional competence and inclusion andthat Coaches are using data systems toensure positive outcomesby intentionally tracking Coachee progress.

What are the major benefits of Re-Certification as a Pyramid Plus Coach?

  • Coaches will be updated on the use of the newest certification tools and resources created by the Pyramid Plus Center to support coaching skills and fidelity implementation of the Pyramid Plus Approach.
  • Professional growth related to all aspects of coaching is supported and fostered; Re-Certification can be seen as part of a career ladder in early childhood and is recognized in the Colorado Professional Development Information System (PDIS).
  • Access to the Pyramid Plus Approach (PPA) materials is available to inform coaching the PPA content for high fidelity implementation.
  • Programs and/or communities report that Certified Coaches are an assetin the implementation of the Pyramid Plus Approach.
  • Pyramid Plus Certified Coaches may choose to participate in a geographic listingon the Pyramid Plus website, if available to contract with programs and communities for a fee.
  • Pyramid Plus Coach Certification meets the Relationship Based Professional Development requirement for Colorado Department of Education Professional Development Team Coach Credential.
  • Certified Trainers and Certified Coaches receive discounted registration fees on selected Pyramid Plus trainings.

What are the requirements for Pyramid Plus Coach Re-Certification?

  • Complete an online application; submit all requested qualification documents and information including the selection of a Coach Re-Certification Option. The cost of Coach Re-Certification must be paid online with a credit card when completing the application. Application deadline is Monday, February 5, 2018.
  • Participate in required web-based Coach Re-Certification training components.
  • Complete and submit all requirements of selected Coach Re-Certification Option by Friday, June 15, 2018.

How long is the Coach Re-Certification process?

Re-Certification activities must be completed and submitted by Friday, June 15, 2018.

Do I need to complete Coach Re-Certification now or can I wait and complete the process later without repercussions?

Re-Certification will be offered annually with an application/registration process in the winter and submission deadline in June. If a Certified Coach chooses to wait to become Re-Certified, he/she may not provide coaching services as a Certified Pyramid Plus Coach during the interim. Those who choose to allow their Certification to lapse for more than two years from the expiration date on their original certificate are not eligible for Re-Certification and will need to complete Certification process again.

How long will Coach Re-Certification last?

Re-Certification is good for three years. Those Re-Certifying in 2018 will expire in 2021.
