What do you do on the start of a new sprint?

Each time you start a new sprint (aka iteration) you should have the 2 key reports (Burndown and Stories Overview) automatically sent to the team’s inbox each night. Let’s look at how you do that:

Figure: Right click Team Queries | New Folder

Figure: Add new iteration

Figure: Open a sprint and copy the “Sprint Backlog” and “Sprint User Stories” to new sprint.

Figure: Right click the Iteration Backlog | Edit Query

Figure: Edit Sprint Backlog and link the iteration path to your new sprint

Figure: Click “Save Query” and then “Refresh”.

Figure: Right click Sprint User Stories | Edit Query, then link to current sprint.

We have setup our queries. Now let’s add some tasks!

How to schedule the 2 key reports to be emailed to the team each evening?

Figure: Find the reports by right clicking Reports | Show Report Site…

Figure: Click “Project Management” on the report website

Figure: Click “Burndown and Burn Rate”.

Figure: Click “Subscriptions”

Figure: Click “Edit”

Figure: Edit email address to add or delete subscribers. Then, change the subject and set the schedule

Figure: Go back to “Subscription: Burndown and Burn Rate” page and modify “Report Parameter Values”.

Congratulations!

Now you need to do it again for the other report

Figure: Go back to “Project Management” page and click “Stories Overview”

Figure: Click “Subscriptions”

Figure: Click “Edit”

Figure: Edit email address to add or delete subscribers. Then, change the subject and set the schedule.

Congratulations, you have setup the reports to be sent to your inbox!

You will get two reports in your inbox in each evening.
