Calculating theEqualitiesRiskScore

Youwill needtocalculate a risk scoretwice:

1.Ontheinherentriskof theproposalitself(withouttaking into accountanymitigatingactionsyoumayidentifyattheendoftheEquality Analysis (EA)process)

2.Onthe risk thatremains (the residualrisk)aftermitigatingactionshave beenidentified

This isnecessaryat bothpoints to:

  • Firstly,identifywhether anEA needs tobe completedfor theproposaland;
  • Secondly, tounderstandwhatriskwould be left iftheactionsidentified tomitigateagainstanyadverse impactare implemented

Stage 1- to get the inherentriskrating:

1.Use theEqualitiesRiskCriteria Tablebelowand scoreeachcriterionona scaleof1-4for theimpactand1 – 4 on theirlikelihoodofoccurrence.Multiplythese2scorestogether (Likelihood xImpact) togetascore for that criterion(this willrange from1–16).

2.Record each of these scores in the table at the beginning of this document

3.Assess whetheryouneedtocarryout anEAusingthe guidanceboxbelow(stage 2).
