North Melbourne and Western Bulldogs Football Clubs have joined forceswith Australian Prostate Cancer Research(APCR) to help fight prostate cancer.

The blockbuster Friday night match will be known as the ‘Clash For Prostate’, with footy fans urged to learn more about prostate cancer.

The shocking fact is that 1 in 5 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, but with regular health check-ups, we can increase early detection and improve men’s quality of life.

As an official charity partner of North Melbourne, APCR will play a big part in the Friday night Kangaroos home game. North Melbourne has committed to broadcasting our message to footy fans and the wider community about the importance of men’s health checks.

APCR CEO Mark Harrison said, “It is our vision that no man dies of prostate cancer. Thanks to the invaluable support from organisations such as North Melbourne and the AFL, this vision can be realised.”

This is an incredibly important cause that directly, or indirectly affects most, if not all of us,” said AFL CEO, Gillon McLachlan. The work APCR is doing will go a long way in helping tackle this disease, and we thoroughly support them.”

APCR’s Prostate Cancer Centre, located in North Melbourne,is a world leading men’s facility whichnot only offers bulk-billed health checks to any man with a Medicare card, but manages specialist treatment and care for men with prostate cancer and other issues below the belt.

This exciting partnership demonstrates the commitment of both clubs to men’s health, and the recognition of the important work of APCR and its dedication to improving the odds.

North Melbourne Coach Brad Scott, an ambassador for the ‘Clash For Prostate’ said the club was pleased to be able to throw its support behind a worthy cause.

“This is such an important message for all men to hear and pay attention to and hopefully Friday night’s match can help encourage all blokes out there to think about their health,” Scott said.

“The work the APCR is doing is this space is extremely important and we are pleased to have them on board as an official charity partner of the club.”
