The Sparks-a-Rama and AwanaGames™

What are the Sparks-a-Rama and AwanaGames™?

These special events in the spring of the club year bring together the clubs from your area to compete in games that your clubbers enjoy and have been practicing throughout the club year. The Sparks-a-Rama features six events; the Awana Games feature ten events.

Why should our club participate?

These events major on FUN, and are a wonderful time of competition for your clubbers in a wholesome atmosphere. Even more importantly, this is a time when unsaved parents will come to watch their child participate, and they will hear the gospel presented during the half time message.

Other benefits of participation include:

Incentive for clubbers to achieve in their handbooks: each must complete ten sections this club year to be allowed on the team

Your clubbers will benefit from the time spent with their leaders in practice

This will challenge your athletically inclined clubbers

Provides opportunity to see what other Awana clubs are doing

Increases parent contact, even seeing them drop off and pick up their children

Sparks-a-Rama and AwanaGames™ Teams

The Sparks-a-Rama team consists of 10-14 players; five must be boys and five must be girls. Other players your choice.

AwanaGames™ Division 3 teams shall consist of a minimum of 10 players (five boys and five girls) and a maximum of 14 players (seven boys and seven girls). No more than half can be fifth- or sixth-graders.

If you need help finding another church to combine with, your Ministry Team Members may be able to help you. See other registration information under "Special Notes" on next page.

School grade and age requirements apply to team members.

To allow a maximum number of churches to participate, each church may register one team in each category (Sparks, Division 3). A second team may also be registered, but is on a stand-by basis only – please send payment with registration request; a refund will be given if this team cannot be accepted to playing status. These will be accepted to active status based on space available and in the order registrations are received.

Sparks-a-Rama Awards

All members and the coach of the Sparks-a-Rama team will receive a Sparks-a-Rama participation patch to wear on their Sparks vest or leader uniform. The first place team will also receive a plaque.

AwanaGames™ Awards

Finals Awards:

First Place - Medallions and a Wall Banner

Second through Fourth Place - Finals Ribbons

SPECIAL NOTES

This event is free, there is no admission cost for spectators at the AwanaGames™; however, a love offering will be collected to defray the cost of the event, and purchase the equipment that is used.

Dress Code: The following applies to all team members and coaches: NOshorts, spandex or bike shortswill be allowed. Clubbers or coaches who do not comply are not allowed on the game floor.

Team Registration: See the Registration form for Registration Costs and Deadlines. Thank you for sending your registrations in on time!

Your registration is not complete until we receive names of AwanaGames™ Staff volunteers to work during each session your church is competing in. Please send these names along with your team Registration.

AwanaGames™ Staff service pins are awarded to those who work at the AwanaGames™. It is a big help to the missionaries if all staff will check out when leaving, and pick up their pin at that time! This saves us time during this hectic season, and keeps office funds available for other needs.

Team Shirts: These are a local church option. Pinnies and neckerchiefs are available for teams to wear during competition, but if you choose to purchase team color shirts it is your responsibility to order them from a local supplier or from Awana Headquarters.

Event Participation Agreement This Event Participation Agreement (hereafter this “Agreement”) is intended to supplement the Awana Ministry Agreement, currently in effect, between Awana Clubs International, a not-for-profit corporation of Illinois, with offices at One East Bode Road, Streamwood, Illinois60107 (hereafter “ACI”) and

Name of Church ______(hereafter the “Church”)

State and Nature of Church’s Corporation ______

Address ______

The Awana Ministry Agreement licenses and enables the church to use Awana® programs in the Church. This Agreement enables the Church to send groups of children or young people to participate in regional events sponsored by ACI Regional Ministry Divisions.

The Agreement between the Church and ACI regarding participation in Awana regional events is as follows:

1. Term of This Agreement : This Agreement will become effective on the date signed and will remain in full force and effect as long as the church maintains the Awana Ministry Agreement referenced above and continues to pay its annual registration fee to ACI as described in the Ministry Agreement.

2. Events: Awana events include, but are not limited to, AwanaGames™, Bible Quizzing, Camp-a-Rama™, Sparks-a-Rama™, Summit™ , or any other Awana sponsored event (individually, “Event” and collectively, “Events”).

3. Specific Event Participation: The Agreement is a precondition to the Church’s participation in any Event. To participate in a specific event, the Church will complete an Event Registration Form for any Event in which it desires to participate. Each time the Church participates in a specific Event, such participation is subject to the terms and conditions of this Agreement.

4. Conduct at Events: The Church understands and agrees that any behavior inconsistent with Event guidelines or any behavior by a member of the Church’s Team that impedes or obstructs the progress of the Event, gives ACI’s regional staff the right to take corrective action including removal of the Church’s Team from an Event or termination of the right to participate in any further Events by the Church. For purposes of this Agreement, the Church’s Team means not only children and youth participating in the Event, but also the leaders including any Church-related volunteers, staff, employees, officers, members, congregants, or invitees.

5. Church Responsible for Screening and Child Protection Precautions: For the purposes of child protection, the Church is solely responsible to screen, select, train, and supervise all members of the Church’s Team participating in the Event and shall not permit any persons who have not been properly screened to participate in the Event.

6. Church Agrees to Indemnify and Hold ACI Harmless: The Church agrees to indemnify and to hold ACI harmless from and against any and all claims, damages, or liability arising from the Church’s involvement and participation in an Event or arising from any conduct or activities of any member of the Church’s Team. This provision survives the termination of this Agreement.

7. Relationship of Church and ACI: Members of the Church’s Team involved in an Event are not volunteers, agents, employees, or staff of ACI.

8. Legal Authority: The person signing below has authority from the governing body of the Church to sign on behalf of the Church and to commit the Church to the terms of this Agreement.
