Active Partnerships

What are Active Partnerships?

Netball Associations, big or small, are always a big part of the community in which it is based. The position within the structure of the community is integral to see that the greater population feels a sense of belonging in that Association.

Well maintained Associations must be adaptable and open to change so that they continue to move forward and develop. Associations should always be looking to build partnerships within the community to not only ensure the growth and development of the Associations and its members, but the wider stakeholders in the community.

These include:

-primary and secondary schools

-universities

-local councils and government

-local businesses

-higher sporting organisations

Building Partnerships

Building partnerships with community groups and businesses can complement Associations in two major ways:

1. Increase the Association’s presence in the greater community for potential memberships.

2. Open doors for greater sponsorship opportunities.

Partnerships should be beneficial for both parties involved. Once a partnership is established the Associations should work hard towards maintaining it.Constant correspondence and partnership evaluations should take place to ensure that both parties are benefiting from the agreement.

Benefitting from a Partnership

As stated above there are two main benefits from a community partnership:

1. Increase the Association’s presence in the greater community for potential memberships.

This is an integral part of an Association moving forward to ensure the membership growth. Partnerships along primary and secondary schools have proven greatest when trying to increase a membership base of both players and non-players. Your Association could also benefit from the use of these schools e.g. courts, gymnasiums etc.

2. Open doors for greater sponsorship opportunities.

Creating a relationship with a local business or organization can be one of the utmost important things your Association can do. These agreements can look very different on a case by case basis, for example:

-uniform sponsorship

-preferred supplier agreement

-advertising sponsorship

-trophy sponsorship etc
