Biblical Scriptures for Parents

Ephesians 5:15 “Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of very opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is. Do not be drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 6:1-3. Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your father and mother—which is the first commandment with a promise—that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.

Deut. 5:29 – Oh, that their hearts would be inclined to fear me and keep all my commands always, so that it might go well with them and their children forever.”

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 - “These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk alone the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands, and bind them on our foreheads. Write then on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.

Joshua 24:15 – But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you. Then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods your forefathers served for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.

Parents cannot be divided on how they want to parent. The parents need to discuss, pray and decide away from their children, and then be unified in the action so the children don’t try to conqueror and divide the parents.

Psalm 127 – Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.

Proverbs 22:6 – Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

Proverbs 10:13 - Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rot is for the back of him who lacks judgment.

Proverbs 13:24 – He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves Him is careful to discipline him.

Proverbs 19:18 – Discipline your son, for in that there is hope do not be a willing party to his death.

Proverbs 22:15 - Folly is bound up in the heart of a children, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him.

Nehemiah 9:13 – You came down on Mount Sinai; you spoke to them home heaven. You gave them regulations and laws that are just and right, and decrees and commands that are good.

Psalm 19:8 – The precepts of the Lord are right, giving joy to the heart, the commands of the Lord are radiant, giving light to the eyes.

Psalm 119:75 – I know, O Lord, that your laws are righteous, and in faithfulness you have afflicted me.

Psalm 119:128 – and because I consider all your precepts right, I hate every wrong path.

Hosea 14: 9 – Who is wise? He will realize these things, who is discerning? He will understand them. The ways of the Lord are right; the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.

Exodus 20:12 – Honor your father and your mother so that you may live long in the land the Lord God is giving you.

Deut. 30:11-30 – See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws: then you will live and increase, and the Lord your God will bless you in the land you are entering to possess. But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship the. I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
