November 22 – December 20

Stage 1 – Desired Results
Understanding (s)/goals: / Essential Question(s): / Student Outcomes (objectives):
SWBAT identify the y-intercept as the starting point and slope as the rate of change.
SWBAT graph and write a linear function given the slope and y-intercept.
SWBAT graph a linear function from an equation in slope-intercept form.
SWBAT identify the slope and y-intercept from the graph of a function or from an equation in slope-intercept form.
SWBAT predict the effect of changes in “m” and “b” on the graph of y=mx+b.
SWBAT translate between tables, graphs, equations in slope-intercept form, and verbal descriptions for functions.
SWBAT graph and write an equation for a linear function given the slope and ANY point on the line, or any 2 points on the line.
SWBAT write an equation in point-slope form. / How are various forms of lines different?
How can parent functions be affected to indicate certain transformations?
How are transformations indicated on different forms of linear equations?
How much information do we need to graph or write an equation for a function? / ⓈALGI.2A Identify and sketch the graphs of the general forms of linear (f(x) = x) and quadratic (f(x) = x2) parent functions, and describe the graphs verbally and in writing.
ⓈALGI.5A Determine whether or not given situations can be represented by linear functions by determining finite differences and writing an algebraic representation.
ⓈALGI.5B Determine the domain and range for linear functions in given situations which are represented graphically, tabularly, symbolically, verbally, and in writing.
ⓇALGI.5C Use, translate, and make connections among algebraic, tabular, graphical, or verbal descriptions of linear functions.
ⓇALGI.6C Investigate, describe, and predict the effects of changes in m and b on the graph of y = mx + b.
ⓈALGI.6D Graph and write equations of lines given characteristics such as two points, a point and a slope, or a slope and y-intercept when given graphically, symbolically or in written representations.
ⓇALGI.6F Interpret and predict the effects of changing slope and y-intercept in applied situations using tabular, graphical, symbolic, and written representations.
ⓈALGI.7A Analyze situations involving linear functions in forms of a graph, table, equation, or verbal description in order to formulate a linear equation or inequality to solve a problem.
ALG.7B Investigate methods for solving linear equations and inequalities using concrete models, graphs, and the properties of equality, select a method, and solve the equations and inequalities involving one or two variables.
Stage 2 – Assessment Evidence
Performance Task(s) and Other Evidence:(Assessment evidence should be collected for each Student Outcome (SO) listed above.)
Formative / Summative (Attach copy)
Stage 3 – Learning Plan
DIFFERENTIATION (I-3)There are several ways to individualize instruction for your students
SCAFFOLD:
  • Students in need of extra help will be grouped together with the teacher and also a peer tutor.
  • Students will have the availability or previous notes to help stair step learning into the newer material.
ACCELERATE:
  • Students will have the opportunity to peer-tutor and help other students in need.
  • Students will have the opportunity to complete an extra project or assignment designated by the teacher.
GROUP:
  • Re-teaching will take place in a separate group based on skill level.
  • Re-teaching will also be spiraled into each days lessons to help maintain essential knowledge and skills.
