UPCOMING EVENTS

★Brush Pick-Up has been set for the Fourth week in October (October 23rd - 27th) in the Village limits ONLY. Have brush to the curb by 7am on Monday morning making sure it does not block the sidewalk.

○No stumps, yard waste, rose/thorny bushes, or leaves will be accepted.

○Brush may not be bigger than 3 inches in diameter.

○Make sure brush ends are all pointed the same way toward the curb.

Brush willnotbe picked up if the above requests are not followed.

★Leaf Pick-Up will take place during the month of November within the Village limits ONLY. Please rake all leaves to the curb in piles or rows (do not bag).

Playground Build at Alumni Park (Ball Diamond) will be Saturday, September 9th, starting at 8am. Volunteers are needed, Food & Refreshments will be provided.

The American Circus is coming to Weston! September 16th & September 17th

Halloween Parade & Trick or Treat is October 28th

○Sign-up For Costume Contest is from 4-4:45pm at Weston Church of Christ

○Parade will Line-up on Elm Street at 4:45pm, Parade starts at 5pm

○Costume Judging after the Parade at the Village Hall

○Trick-or-Treat 6:00pm-8:00pm

Daylight Savings Time ends November 5th, don’t forget to turn you clocks back!

★Election Day is November 7th, Weston Township and Weston Village vote at the Weston Emergency Services Building at 20761 Taylor Street.

Deadline to Register to Vote is October 10th.

Christmas Tree Lighting will be held on December 2nd

○Crafts, Snacks & Refreshments with a Visit from Santa begin at 5:30pm

○Tree Lighting at 6:00pm

WAYS TO BE INVOLVED

★Weston Parks & Recreation handles holiday activities, oversee the Weston Youth League, and help improve our parks. If you are interested in becoming a member come to a meeting on the 4th Monday of every month at 5:30pm at the Village Hall.
Other Committees to join include: Strategic Plan & Streets/Zoning

★The Recycling trailer is at the Village Hall every 4th Saturday of the month from 10am-noon, which needs volunteers to help sort Recyclables. Contact the Village Clerk to sign up.

ONGOING REMINDERS

Zoning Permits: Before building a new structure on a permanent foundation, or adding onto an existing structure, contact our Village Zoning Inspector to obtain the proper permit. Don’t forget to call 8-1-1 before you DIG.

Weston Recycling: The recycling trailer is at the Village Hall every 4th Saturday of the month, from 10am-noon. All proceeds benefit the Weston Youth League. Accepted items include: Steel & aluminum cans, plastic bottles, newspapers & magazines, computer paper, phone books, and cardboard. No Glass! Please be sure to separate all items, and remove the caps/lids.

Grass/Weed Requirements: Residents are required to keep weeds/grass trimmed and under a height of 7 inches.

Sidewalks: Residents are required to keep sidewalks free of snow and ice after 2” or more of snow accumulation. Additionally, please keep sidewalks free of overgrowth from grass, branches, and bushes.

Inoperable Vehicles: Shall not remain on property for longer than 7 days.

Golf Carts: Now required to be plated, inspections can be done at the Wood County Sheriff’s office prior to getting registration.

Dogs/Animals: Please be considerate to your fellow residents by being a responsible pet owner. Any and all waste left behind by an animal should be cleaned up immediately. For citizen safety, no resident may keep, own, harbor, possess, or care for any dangerous or vicious dog(s). Ordinance 2016-12, passed 7/18/16, hereby bans these dogs from Village limits.

Solicitors: Citizens should be aware that Solicitors/Salesmen need a permit to go door-to-door, call the Sheriff if they cannot provide their permit.

Curfew: No minor shall be present in a public place within the Village between the hours of 10:00pm and 6:00am.

❖Otsego Food Pantry services are available to those in the district that are in need of food or clothing. This is by appointment only; so please call419-830-1051, leaveyour information on the message system, andyou will receive a call back to scheduleyour time slot.

❖A reminder from the sheriff: In the event that you witness something suspicious, don’t hesitate to contact us. If you call us as an incident is taking place instead of waiting to report it deputies can be on the scene in a matter of minutes. In the event of an emergency, dial 911. For non-emergency calls, call 419-354-9001.
