WHS ATHLETIC BOOSTER CLUB SCHOLARSHIP / 2016

The Westmont High School Sentinel Athletic Booster Club is a voluntary group committed to supporting all WHS athletes with school spirit and encouragement. In addition, the Booster Clubprovides financial support to all WHS athletic teams inpurchasing items not included in the Athletic Department’s budget as well as sponsoring special athlete-related programs. Funds are obtained through individual, family, and business memberships as well as concession/spirit wear sales, summer events and the annual dinner fundraiser.

The Booster Club will award two $500 scholarships to be given to one (1)eligiblemale and one (1)eligible female.

------Rules for Entry------

SCHOLARSHIP IS FOR SENIORS ONLY. Eligibility Checklist

  1. Applicants must be in continuous good academic standing. He/she should have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  2. Each applicant must submit a letter of recommendation from a coach, a teacher, or a member of the community, other than his/her parent.
  3. All applicants must have been or will be involved in 2 years of a Varsity level sport at WHS.
  4. Applicants are required to submit a 250-500 word essay (typed and double spaced). The title and topic is: “How high school sports have impacted my life.”
  5. Application deadline is WednesdayMarch 23, 2016.

------Selection of Recipients------

Awards will be based on academic achievement and potential, character, leadership, social awareness, and career goals.

The Westmont HighSchool AthleticBooster Scholarship selection committee will be comprised of three (3) Booster Club members. They will review, examine, and verify all blind applications and essays. Recipients will be announced at the May WHS awards assembly. The award will be presentedat the Senior Banquet.

The creation of this scholarship is a direct result from a motion made and passed. The WHS Athletic Booster Club retains its right to alter, suspend, cancel or halt the scholarship at any time.
